State Championship game Saturday against Tucson Ironwood Ridge. Bright and early Saturday morning, 10:30, at Campo Verde HS. Be sure to bring all your friends and family to cheer the girls on. Go Pioneers!
Game 21: State Championship Finals vs. Ironwood Ridge: 4-2 Win
STATE CHAMPIONS! UNDEFEATED SEASON! What more can you say. The girls battled back and forth with a relentless Ironwood Ridge team. Despite staking a 2-0 halftime lead the Tucson girls were just too tough to put away. 2-1, then 3-1, then 3-2 and a furious push by Ironwood Ridge to the final seconds when the icing on the championship cake was an open goal score for the final tally. What a great effort across the board this season. Congratulations Big Blue, this will be remembered as a very special season.
Game 20: State Championship Semi-Finals vs. Marcos de Niza: 4-0 Win
A truly outstanding team effort led the girls to the Championship game with a dominating win over a very active and resilient Marcos side. 3 first half goals were followed by a great surge in the beginning of the second half leading the Marcos keeper no choice but to come hard off her line on one run resulting in a handball outside of the 18 and a red card. Marcos played 1 down the rest of the way and despite a few threats couldn't ruin the clean sheet for the Big Blue! Championship! Saturday at 10:30 am, Campo Verde HS. Opponent to be decided tomorrow. Great job Pinnacle!
Game 19: State Championship Round 2 vs. Chaparral: 2-1 Win
After the girls grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half the Firebirds side worked a steady rotation of players to keep fresh legs after half time resulting in the equalizer in the second half. The rotation kept the pressure on a bit of a weary Pinnacle side resulting in some real chances for Chaparral to take the lead. The girls held fast getting a nice combination late in the second to get the eventual game winner. On to the Semi-Finals against Marcos De Niza, upset winners against last year's Champions Desert Mountain.
Game 18: State Championships Round 1 vs. Ironwood: 6-0 Win
Well, Arizona's version of a blizzard (substitute sand for snow and drop things down to a chilly and windy 40 degrees) didn't hold back the girls. 2 first half goals into the wind was enough to propel them to do even more with the wind at their backs. On to the second round, Saturday against Region foe Chaparral. Time and field will post soon. Be sure to come out and support the Big Blue!
Game 17 vs. Horizon: 4-0 Win
Congratulations! To our seniors and our team for wrapping up the regular season undefeated 17-0. On to the State Championship Tournament as either the number 1 or 2 seed. Time to ramp it up and carry on the great work to the Championship. The girls need all the fans they can get at each of the 4 games on the road to the title, so be sure to come out an support the Big Blue!
Game 16 vs. St. Mary's: 6-0 Win
A long bus trip to downtown Phoenix must have cramped the girls style as it took them a while to find their groove. They eventually settled in to cruise to their 16th straight win. 1 more regular season game on Friday - SENIOR NIGHT! Come out to show your appreciation for all they have done and support the team in their undefeated run.
Game 15 vs. Desert Mountain: 4-2 Win
The girls jumped out to a quick 2-0 start only to have the Wolves strike quickly for two to equalize and knot it up 2-2 at the half. After an inspired 15 minutes the girls got the go ahead goal and then ramped up the pressure to go up by two. A nice hard fought region win. Only two more left before the playoffs. Go Big Blue!
Game 14 vs. Chaparral: 3-0 Win
After a hard fought back and forth first half the girls turned it up for the last 30 minutes and earning 3 tough goals against a very active Chaparral team. The big 10 days continues with a re-match against Desert Mountain Friday at home. Come out to cheer the girls on to another win!
Game 13 vs. North Canyon: 8-1 Win
It took about 15 minutes for the girls to settle in and find the goal, but after that they found it regularly. Now they get to rest up for a big week of Region games at home against Chaparral and Desert Mountain starting Tuesday. Go Pioneers!
Game 12 vs. Horizon: 1-0 Win
Game 11 vs. St. Marys: 12-0 Win
The girls scored early and often to sew up another Region win and tune up for two big back to back Region road games at the end of the week, starting with Horizon on Thursday and North Canyon on Friday. See you there!
Game 10 vs. Desert Mountain: 4-1 Win
Game 9 vs. Chaparral: 2-1 Win
A great turnout of Pinnacle faithful on the road saw the girls come back from the Holiday break a bit rusty and adjusting to their school routine. They connected enough to get two goals across and take that lead late into the second half against a hard working Firebirds side. Chaparral got their only goal on a deflection, which may well allow the girls to still say that only one team has scored on them this season. A good Region win. A couple of hard practices will help them prepare for last year's State Champion in another Region road game against Desert Mountain Friday. See you there.
Game 8 vs. North Canyon: 3-0 Win
The girls overcame a sluggish start following a long weekend of soccer and scraped together enough to get the win over a persistent Rattlers side. The Winter break is just what the girls need now. Plug in January 4 as the next game date - on the road at always tough Chaparral. See you all in the New Year.
Game 7- Horizon Tournament - Championship Game vs. Cactus Shadows HS: 3-0 Win
Congratulations! The girl earned a great title with a great win over a very game Cactus Shadows side. Nice run cleaning the table through the tournament. Now its time to start region play, at home, with the girls last game in 2010. See you Monday.
Game 6 - Horizon Tournament vs. Xavier: 1-0 Win
A truly energetic second half led the girls to the upset win of the Tournament favorite and defending 5A D1 Champion Xavier. But for some great work from the Xavier keeper in both halves the girls could have added a few extra. On to the Championship game tomorrow at 2:00 at Horizon HS vs. Cactus Shadows HS.
Game 5 - Horizon Tournament vs. Mountain Ridge: 6-0 Win
A full complement of girls scored tonight in a solid win over an energetic MR side. The girls finished pool play as the number one seed and move on to the semi-finals tomorrow at 4:00 at Horizon HS, vs. Xavier. See you there!
Game 4 - Horizon Tournament vs. North: 13-0 Win
The girls kept up their chances for advancing with a dominating win against North. Big game tomorrow night to finish with max points and move on to Friday's semi-final round.
Game 3 - Horizon Tournament vs. Ironwood: 5-0 Win
The girls started the tournament with a great effort by making a statement against a hard working Ironwood team. 5 first half goals paced the girls to the win. Be certain to check out the game pics on the Photos page.
Game 2 vs. Perry: 3-1 Win
Nice road trip win. Now on to the Horizon Tournament of Champions next week at Reach 11. See you there.
Game 1 vs. Tolleson: 14-0 Win
Nice team effort as 10 girls scored. Don't forget about the Friday road trip to Perry HS in Gilbert. Come enjoy the Friday cheering on your favorite Pinnacle player!
Nice preseason scrimmage for the girls against Westview. A rematch of last years Quarterfinals playoff game. The girls had a nice effort in a 6-2 win. Now on to the regular season starting November 30, at home against Tolleson.
Welcome everyone. Hopefully with all of the outstanding parent volunteers we will help make this a great season for the girls and the team. Check back for weekly team info as the regular season draws close. Dont forget the first scrimmage Monday, November 22 at home, 5:00 vs. Westview.
