2 wheel drive...
Well, no one can ever say I wasn't adventurous. I had my motorcycle license when we lived in TN, but since I didn't have a motorcycle when we moved I could not get my endorsement when we first moved. So I decided to get a motorcycle for which to take my test (and ride a little). So I found this little gem on craigslist for a small fee, I picked it up and got a little help with gear from some friends, and have been busy taking various tests and what not to get my endorsement for NC. It is not a fast one by far, but it'll get ya where you are going. Apparently it'll cross continents if it's rider desires. Any ways, it should be fun, i'll let ya know...
In the beginning...
Ok, so maybe a little background on this obsession/fascination with Toyotas, especially Land Cruisers. When I was in high school, a friend of mine had a dune beige FJ40, I loved that thing. It was so utilitarian, and cool looking so when I was 18 when I got my first one, it was actually a 1986 4Runner, but it was a 4WD and it looked lifted (with my awesome 31" tires. I drove that thing for a couple years, and had a pretty good time in it. I traded it in for a newer 1993 4Runner, I wrecked it once but it survived, another story for another day. I ended up trading for another vehicle and ended up with a '95 4Runner Ltd, I actually had this one lifted and put larger tires on it (Stacie can relate from here on out because here is where she came along). My friend Chris had a couple Land Cruisers thru his dad who was kind of a wholesaler of automobiles. His was a '93 FZJ-80 and was lifted and had big tires on it, I seriously wanted one. In short I sold the 4Runner, bought the blue '95 Land Cruiser, and that was the beginning... More to come...
New (to me) vehicle
Ok, so since I have been dabbling in Land Cruisers I have always wanted 2 things, an FJ-40 (check, got one of those) and a 40th Anniversary FZJ-80... Now I have both, and I can stop and just enjoy them for a while. I don't know what drew me to the 40th, but I just have always liked the fact that it was a "limited production" and might someday have some sort of collector status. Well I picked this one up from a guy in Alabama who was the second owner besides his mother. It is currently undergoing some minor work, but should be in my possession this next week. Needless to say I am a tad excited. I hope to keep this one for a long time just like the 40. Now when I get rich/ eccentric (well more so than I am now, eccentric that is) I will get a 60 series and have a trifecta. Until then...
