About Academia Quinto-Sol

The "Quinto-Sol" Academy of Young Visionaries is a 9-week summer Vocational-Trade Prep program that will begin in June 15th 2009.

The academy is a pilot project of the North Bay Institute of Green Technology/Youth Green Jobs Sonoma (click link to learn more about the institute) program that will work with 15-25 young people ages 16-18 years old, mostly bilingual/bicultural Spanish-speaking, court-involved, some formerly incarcerated and or gang affiliated youth and their families.

Our Purpose

- To break the cycle of failure and poverty by preparing under-served students and their families by providing resources to on-the-job training and income opportunities so that they will be on the forefront of the emerging green jobs industry.

- To provide bilingual/bi-cultural disadvantaged youth and young adults with an introduction to clean/green technologies course.

- To provide the understanding and skills they will need to succeed in the new economy.

- To develop and apply a "whole life / whole family" holistic approach to education and empowerment by providing a resource network of social and service providers to address a wide range of socioeconomic and life challenges.
