Since 1991 Dr. Delany has traveled to a remote village in the Dominican Republic with a group of medical, dental and health care support personnel, the Somos Amigos Medical Missions. Initially, the dental patients were seen by the volunteer dentists using beach chairs on cinder blocks, flashlights and headlamps for illumination, and a gasoline powered generator providing electricity for slow speed hand-pieces. Before he joined the mission, the primary care that was provided was extractions. Today, thanks to donations and grants, the mission is able to provide endodontic treatment, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, stainless steel crowns, prophylaxis services and even partial and full denture construction.
