allergies suck
it seems like every morning I'm waking up feeling like someone ran over me with a truck! Yesterday at Wal-Mart I picked up the equvalent to Zyrtec indoor and outdoor allergy medication. We'll see how that works in a few days after I've used it for that long. So far this morning - same.... horrible headache and so stuff - UGH.
Well peeps, I'm off to do some housework and maybe other work...
HEY my blog/Shutterfly Space is featured on Stubmle Upon!
Do you use Stumble Upon? I have fallen in love with it! You can install the add-on for your browser type from their site too which makes it easy for you to mark sites you visit and love quickly - which also serves as a quick way to go back and quick reference them. Not only that but when you hit the "Stumble Upon" icon in your browser it detects your interests and you discover some pretty neat sites out there!
In any case- just had to share! I added my blog to their site tonight and it's on the featured list for "digital scrapbooking" now! Yeah!
Take a peek!

It has been such a busy time for some reason. It's one of those things - you know... the whole - wow I still have so much I want to get done; but look back at how long has gone by and can't believe how much time has passed... and sit wondering just what you did this whole time that took up all of just that - your time.
Well, I know - my kids, my family and my job - *sigh*
Megan has had dance competitions. In fact we just arrived home on Monday afternoon from a trip to Orlando Florida for Megan's dance Nationals. She did great! <3
I'm off from my job for a week starting on Tuesday and am very much looking forward to that! I plan on a lot of changes at
Scrapbook-Bytes during that time - be sure and visit and check it out. I also plan on getting a few pages completed to get a few books done and printed! Love my Shutterfly books!!!
oh and speaking of - visit my "Shutterfly Books" tab at the top of my Shutterfly space here and it gives you details on how to get help making your digital scrapbook page. It's fun - I promise and don't hesitate to ask me for help!
YOU GO GIRL!
Congratulations today to my daughter's friend, Brooke!!! She competed for dance in Syracuse for her solo and got a High Gold, won her division AND got 6th place overall!!! AWESOME STUFF!!! Great job Brooke!!!! Megan will be so excited for you!
Ugh... Tired.... Hosting.... Orlando
So today I'm still tired as ANYTHING and just wanting to get some sleep - but I also know there is SO MUCH to be done... tis another day tomorrow right? I just have to keep telling myself that.
Checking into some better and more affordable hosting options for Scrapbook-Bytes these days. I was talking to an Oracle employee while in San Fransisco and he nearly fell off his chair laughing at what we are paying per month for hosting. I have sent out for a few quotes to see if what we are paying is necessary or if we can reduce our hosting expenses a bit.
Anyone know of some good, affordable hosting? Let me know!
_______
In other notes - I still can't get out of my head how INSPIRING Stacy was and have decided before bed tonight to at least sort my scrapbooking files so tomorrow I can scrap at least one page - YES ONE PAGE! Anyone with me???? I'll post a scrap with me now page at SBB when I get home from work about 11:30.
Just booked flights for Megan and I to Orlando - she has a dance competition there in June. Anyone near Orlando want to try to meet up? We are going a day or two early and would have some free time. Drop me a line if you do!
So, off to bed soon with me... I have to work at the diner from 7-11 (ugh) - hate those EARLY mornings!
Shutterfly's Share space... some quirks - but let them know!
- Journal entries - no way to link back to them via an archives if they were posted YEARS from now.
- Can't click on the categories that are listed for journal entries to find further posts regarding that topic the person may have journaled about.
- category options when "new category" will erase all changes you are still making
- when uploading photos via the share - there isn't a "done" button - can only exit out via the 'x' - creates a little confusion of knowing the upload is finished.
- when clicking an image in the share via filmstrip -- no immediate option to view the album it's in OR desirable to have a next - previous like the others
- allow non-registered to leave comments?
- a note in the email notification of updates received that SAYS somewhere in the beginning and in bold, etc. that the response to that email address will be posted to the person's share space area.
- more spacing between modules/sections as well as between journal entries. (or even to have a separator or sorts between the journal entries too like the sections but maybe one that's a bit different to show it's not a section separator)???
- When viewing photos in their album a link back to the "share" profile you were viewing on the top left opposed to the bottom right - I never think to actually look on the bottom of anything to get back anywhere.
- A main page for the share community so others can add friends and search friends they know are using Shutterfly and send the friend requests from their by searching profiles. If the profiles are public this shouldn't be much of an issue. We all have the option of making our share space private entirely which means it wouldn't come up on a main page for user search anyhow. But for example I wanted to find out if any of our fellow SAT members had built their pages yet and couldn't find a main page to search for anyone.
- Also, a link to a person's share page from their profile in the gallery =]
- when editing a journal entry you can't backspace or delete unless you actually type something in the area first even if there is already text there previously.
- No option in the text tools when highlighting text to go back to no hilighting of text (ie: no highlighting)
- Seems the search widget is not related to only the share site; it appears to be an entire Internet search - which therefore I would like a share site only search that is particular to my own share site (or a person's own share site) particularly if I'm searching for something within articles or photos with tagged names (ie: searching for a photo of Jen on Amy's space.... type in Jen in the search box and anything that contains "Jen" on my share site would come up - not everything with the word Jen in it from google or the entire Shutterfly site
- A module or option to list the latest journal entries within a box/section.
- Exclude the page creator's hit not to count in the page views.
- Is there an option to change your email notifications of space updates by members you have on your space? I can see this being an issue if people don't want updates at all and they continue to receive them daily, etc.
- Rss feed to the share space not working (Savannah found this one)
Error finding feed.
Unable to load the web page 'http://aedwards.site.shutterfly.com/?format=rss'. Unable to connect to the remote server
Granted I hope some of these things are not just user-error but in any case if they are - then it may be a question of visibility and ease-of-use for the end user.
Shutterfly Annual SAT meeting.
I will tell you that Shutterfly has
SOME AMAZING things lined up for the next year and you will definetely want to keep checking back to hear more when we are allowed to tell you!
As many of you know I'm part of
their SAT (scrapbook advisory team) along with others. Not all could be there the last 2 days but let me tell you -- it was all very inspiring and very exciting! In attendance: Alicia Bull, Savannah Brentall, Katie Pertiet, Stacy Julian, Heather Melzer, Kate Teague, Anna Aspnes, Linda Sattgast, and me (along with many Shutterfly personnel).
We took a tour of the Shuttefly production facility - VERY interesting stuff. We also saw the photo book product area as well within this and wow - so much goes into these books!!! Truly amazing! And hey did you know now they have PUFFY COVERS???? very cool!
That night we went to dinner at Iberia. Service was quite slow considering they knew a party of 15-20 was to be there - but oh well; they had no trouble refilling all the wine classes on the sly - a bunch of us didn't realize it and then later was wondering why the heck we had headaches (lol); whoaps - drank too much wine... no wonder we were SOOOO loud by the time we all left there!
Early Wed. morning began a full day's agenda of meetings in the Shutterfly board room. All very hush, hush and confidential, so I'm sorry I can't share that with you, but I promise you WILL NOT be disappointed with what is scheduled these next few quarters for Shutterfly.
It was SO FUN meeting new faces and seeing some again I've met before (Katie and Heather). Katie and Heather crack me up - they are some of the funniest people you'll meet. Met Kate Teague - she's is SOOOO SWEET - love her and GIRL if you read this - that sauce - WOW I keep craving it even now!!! We must find a recipe for it or something. Stacy Julian is just amazing and WOW - THE INSPIRATION this woman has within is just contagious especially when she's presenting it to a room - u just want to run right out and do what she says!
One new feature that rolled out this week was Shutterfly's share feature. Kinda like a blog but tied to Shutterfly! Love it so far.
Seems tonight there is actually some maintenance on their gallery area.
LOOK, LOOK HEATHER -- this one's for you!
ok - so over the 2 days in Cali for Shutterfly's annual meeting - a few of the girls mentioned that I haven't blogged and I kind of just dropped off the earth with my blog. Well, I promised Heather I would start it again. That day in our Shutterfly meeting they showed us around the new share feature here at Shutterfly and I decided WHAT a great way to start my personal blog back up again!!! So, this one's for you Heather girl!

Even Kate Teague and Katie Pertiet couldn't help but show off their new favorite ride!

Alicia driving the big 'ole bus.
When Alicia and I went to pick up one of the rental cars - we were greeted with the big gold "sport" van. (lol) - yea it was huge and she continued to sing "the wheels on the bus go round and round" - very funny!

arriving @ the hotel.
Kate can attest - there is nothing like the Sofitel beds!

SO COMFY!
these comforters and pillows are just so so so comfy!

Stacy marvels at the print process!
It truly is amazing to see how fast those photos are coming off the machine and the entire cutting and packaging process.
