After You Adopt (AYA) is a post-adoption support group for parents. It is a CT 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. AYA is a group run by parents for parents. Our families are formed through adoption, both domestic and international representing the countries of Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Guatemala, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, the U.S.A. and Vietnam.
Our group meets monthly. Each meeting has a topic with a guest speaker facilitating discussion. Some of our most popular topics have been, "Talking with your child about adoption," "Adoption in the schools," "Adult adoptees share their experiences," and "Positive discipline in the home."
One of the important objectives of AYA is to provide opportunities for our children to meet and interact with each other. AYA schedules family activities throughout the year. We host an annual summer picnic and a winter potluck social for adoptive families. We also schedule events like bowling.
As a member of AYA, you will receive a member directory and educational materials and resources at our meetings. But most importantly, by joining AYA, you and your children will meet and get to know other families with similar stories and similar beginnings to becoming a forever family.
Another objective of AYA is to provide information and resources to our members. Please, visit our "Member Space" page to find a variety of websites related to adoption, special ways that our families celebrate adoption, and much more!
We hope to meet you and your family. For more information about AYA, please contact us.
