Who Started It All
Always wearing shades.
He'd say: "That's close enough!"

Some pups have been born black, but change to either red or silver fawn with black tips and a black dorsal stripe over a white undercarraige.
Finally, Sampson's clone was thrown!
See how pretty the pinto patches look outlined in black!
So, here I am, 20 years later still hearing my mom praise me and Akitas. We kept the same bloodline from our very first pair of Akitas named Sampson and Tasha. I've raised five children with Akitas as their protectors, their playmates, and true family members. The dogs would specifically place themselves between the children and the edge of our yard separating them from the possibility of danger. The Akitas have protected my home and our other animals from predators. Their distinctive howls are more significant than the best alarm system!
Ever have one of those days when even the animals won't listen to you? That's how this morning turned out to be.
18 month old Alyssa Marie even then was constantly playing with the pups. She has 'dressed' the pups, pushed them in doll strollers, read them bedtime stories, even snuck out in the middle of the night to snuggle with them so they wouldn't be 'lonely.'
Alyssa's motto: You're never too big to stop playing with your best friends.
This pup has wrapped itself around Miss Lyssy's booty!
We pride ourselves that our puppies have gone to such wonderful people and ideal home situations. We value the extension of family that has joined us with all of you by virtue of the pups. We thank each and every one of you for allowing yourself to be chosen by an akita as have we and for letting us be part of it!
We are animal folks and have been all our lives.....but this is our first adventure into being owned by an akita. Between us we have owned MANY large breed, and medium breeds and even a few small breed dogs. The honor of being owned by an akita is unparalled!!!!! These dogs keep you on your toes, and keep you laughing constantly, but they always carry an heir of regalness I have never seen in any other breed. I must say if you are considering an Akita ......this is the place to buy. These babies come pre-spoiled, and with as much tech support as you need as raising an akita is unlike any other breed. I am completely sold ....and Michelle and her family are the BOMB!! We really appreciate ya'll.
Training and Intelligence
The Akita is a working dog breed, so it is intelligent with a capacity to work. It grows fast and your cute little puppy will soon be a large heavy dog, so start training as early as possible. It is essential to at least cover basic training - Akitas are large and determined.
Temperament
The Akita is affectionate, brave and protective of its people. It needs to spend a lot of time with its family to bond with them, and know it is one of the pack so that it does not guard inappropriately. It has a reputation for loyalty.
Attitude towards strange dogs and people
Akitas are very protective over their people, and can be aggressive towards other dogs if allowed to be, so it is essential to socialize them, and have them under control.
Grooming and shedding
Akitas shed heavily at times. Regular brushing will help reduce this. Get them used to being groomed as early as possible.
Exercise
Akitas do not require excessive amounts of exercise, they do like to be active though.
Need for company
Akitas love company and really need to be indoor dogs that spend time with their families. They bond closely with their people and will not be happy if left alone too long.
General
Akitas are very large dogs with very strong guarding instncts - you must be a confident and experienced trainer to get the best from them.
