We have a special area for preschool gymnastics where all the equipment is scaled down for their size. Children remain in this area until they are 6 years old. All preschool classes are co-ed.
FRIEND & ME
Children 2-3 yr. old = 60 min. class
Children attend class with a “FRIEND” such as... Mom, Dad, or anyone that the child feels secure with. The coaches work with the child and the friend as they introduce the sport of gymnastics and develop motor skills.
Children 3-4 years old = 60 min. class
Children must be potty trained to enroll in this class. This class introduces all four events, vault, bars, beam and floor and works on motor skill development.
Children 5 years old = 60 min. class
This class introduces all four events, vault, bars, beam, and floor.
PRESCHOOL 3 & 4
Children 3-5 years old = 60 min. class
Children are recommended for this class by in class evaluation. Children will continue development of all four events and skills.
Girls 6 & up, 90 minute class
These classes must be longer in length because the children will rotate to all 4 events each class period. We have 4 levels of classes R1, R2, R3, R4. Children must master skills from one level to the next, as each level builds from the preceding level's skills.
R1 - placement approved from Tumbling classes
R2 - placement approved from in class evaluation
R3 - placement approved from in class evaluation
R4 - placement approved from in class evaluation
These classes are 90 minutes long.
Children who have never taken gym before must take a tumbling class before enrolling in a gymnastics class.
6 YR & UP, 75 minute class
In order to learn how to do multiple skill tumbling, the back handspring must be mastered. Flip Flop 1 is broken down into 3 phases of the skill; JUMP BACK, SUPPORT, SNAP DOWN. If a child does not have one of these phases mastered then an injury could happen. As simple as this skill may seem, jumping backwards NOT SEEING and landing with all your weight on your hands is a big deal! Once the child has mastered each phase they are ready to put them all together and move to a Flip Flop 2 class. In Flip Flop 2, they will get spotted on the Flip flop in various areas using different equipment. Once the child can do a standing flip flop on the floor without being spotted... SAFELY with correct technique... then they will move into the Roundoff Flip Flip class. This class combines a running roundoff + the flip flop. Once the child has mastered putting these 2 skills together on the floor without a spot, they will move into the Advanced Tumbling Class. This class teaches multiple flip flop connection as well as flipping! This class is 75 minutes long.
Children 6 & up, 60 minute class
This is a class for children that have not taken before. Children are introduced to skills that require them to learn how to control their body while moving upside down and all around. They will do skill development stations and also strength and flexibility work. This class teaches them how to be confident while going upside down and support their body weight on their hands. Children must be able to do Cartwheels, Handstands, Backbends with good form before moving into a gymnastics class or more advanced Tumbling class like the Flip Flop Class. This class is 60 minutes in length.
