Congratulations to the A99GB for winning the 2011 Pacesetter Soccer Invitational. The tournament started with very poor field conditions that continued to worsen as more rain came down Saturday night. Our finals were postponed to Monday due to a tornado watch and strong storm that came through Sunday afternoon. The storm brought so much more rain that all Monday games were cancelled. The girls were named champions of the u12 11v11 division based on their earning more points in the preliminary rounds than their final's opponent Bloomfield Force 99 Purple. Despite the bad weather and not getting to play our finals, everyone still had a great time.
The A99GB moved to 4-0-1 in GVSA u13 Elite with 2-1 victory over Kentwood 99 on Friday evening. Their next league game will be against Rangers-Meidema 98 on Saturday 6/4.

After waiting until the last day of April for their first league game of the season, the 99gb posted an impressive 4-0 win against Kentwood's u13s. The game, played at Davenport's large turf field, saw 3 different players score and an impressive defensive effort.
Next up on Saturday, also at Davenport, the ladies will play the Force u13s, a team that is new to the league this spring.
After a great winter training session and some strong showings in their winter tournaments, the A99GB are ready to head outside and begin their spring season. There were some new additions to the team over the winter, as well as some who left to play with the A99GW team. The new girls have already blended in nicely, and everyone is excited for the season ahead.
We will be practicing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at GR Township Park this spring. The first week will be highlighted by a Friday night clinic put on by coaching legend Bob Gansler at Davenport University.
The team's first game of the spring season will be April 30 vs Kentwood Falcons 98 at Brewer Park. The girls will be working hard this spring in their attempt to repeat as champions of the GVSA u13 Elite Division.
Last weekend, the A99GB competed in the u12 Boys Division at the Grand Valley State University Indoor Tournament. The girls played extremely well, bringing a high level of intensity to each game. It was exciting to see how the team controlled the play in each of their 3 games, despite the speed that the boys brought throughout the weekend. If not for allowing a goal with 3 minutes remaining in their final game, to force a tie, the girls would have won the tournament. With a number of the girls playing in new positions, it was great to see them adjust and control each game as well as they did. The team had some very beneficial meetings with Coach Shearer, and were fortunate enough to have been given a presentation by a former women's national coach. All in all, it was a great weekend for those who attended, and it was nice to see the team rise to this challenge.
Next up, the last weekend in March, the team will travel to Chicago to compete in the Nike College Showcase. The girls will be staying in one of their favorite hotels, which will only add to the fun this high-level tournament will provide.
Last weekend, the A99GB team participated in the CMU tournament, where the team was divided into 2 groups to play this 7v7 event. Both split squads went undefeated, in impressive fashion, and battled each other to a 3-3 draw in the u12 finals. After a PK shootout, the girls took home both the championship and finalist trophies on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, the girls, without their 3 captains and a keeper who were playing with the 98GB team, participated in the u13 tournament. The girls played very well, against strong competition, and ended their day with more medals as they finished as Finalists on Sunday evening. All the girls played very well and had a great time together over the entire weekend. Although the ride home, under a winter storm warning, was slow and a bit tricky, the weekend was a huge success.
Next up will be the GVSU u12 boys tournament March 4 and 5 in Allendale. The girls enjoyed this tournament last year, and are excited to go back again.
After a tournament victory at GVSU in December, the Alliance 99 Girls Black headed to the Total Sports Complex in Wixom January 29 and 30. In their 3 games the team scored 14 goals, while giving up only 1 on a free kick. Although they lost in a PK shootout to advance to the finals, the girls played excellent soccer the entire weekend and showed their indoor futsal training this winter has really been paying off. The highlight of the weekend may have been the team building exercises at the hotel on Saturday, followed by a team dinner. The girls learned a lot about themselves, their teammates, and how their teammates feel about them. This is a special group of players, who have become best friends.
Next up, the team will travel to Central Michigan University February 19 and 20. The team will be split into 2 squads to compete in these one day 7v7 tournaments. On Saturday, they will compete in the u12 division, and on Sunday the u13 division.
The Alliance 99 Girls Black divided up their team and competed in 2 divisions at the GVSU 11v11 indoor tournament this past weekend. Some girls joined players from the 99 Girls White team to go undefeated and unscored upon, in winning the u12 division of the tournament.
Another group of A99GB players, joining with a few of the 98GB players, gave a strong showing in the u13 bracket. After a close, opening game loss to the GRCJ 98 Gold Premier 1 team, the girls turned it on to win convincingly in their final 2 games against CATS 98 and GRCJ 99 Gold.
It was a great start to their winter tournament season, and a fun time for everyone (see picture on right). The girls will continue winter training this week, before taking some much deserved time off over the holidays. They will resume training in mid-January in preparation for the Total Soccer Tournament in Wixom the last weekend in January. The 2nd ranked A99GB expect to be joined by the other top ranked girl's u12 teams in the state for this much anticipated tournament.
The u12 girls won the fall GVSA u13 elite division with an undefeated record. They won their final game 2-0 on Sunday against Jaier 98, it was their 11th shutout this season. In their 8 league games, the team scored 35 goals while giving up only 5.
This fall, 5 players new to the club and 3 moved up from the white team combined with the 8 who returned from last year. You'd think it would've took them a while to jell, but the girls did a remarkable job of coming together quickly under pressure. With 3 very tough tournaments and playing up an age group in their league, compiling their 14-2-3 record was quite an accomplishment. The girls are now the 2nd ranked team in the state and the 7th ranked team in Region 2.
After a much deserved week off, the girls will begin winter training November 9. Please see the link below on the right for the complete schedule. Their next competition will be December 11-12 with an indoor tournament at Grand Valley State University. Please fill out their medical release form found below under "Files/Documents" and return to Jon.
The u12 girls won 2 league games this past weekend, to solidify their hold on first place in the GVSA u13 Elite division. After a 3-1 win over Kentwood u13 and a 8-0 victory over TC Strikers u13, the team is now 6-0 in conference play. 6 different players scored over the weekend, and the defense has now recorded 10 shutouts this fall. The girls have scored 31 goals in their 6 league games, while giving up only 3.
The team will have a rare weekend off coming up, followed by 2 games the final weekend of the season. Their next match will be against SCOR u13, followed by a Halloween game against Jaier u13.
The u12 girls moved to 4-0 in the GVSA u13 Elite division with a 2-0 victory over Kentwood Dunbar 99. The defensive-minded Kentwood team came into the game with a counter attacking plan that created a few issues. The Alliance girls played with patience and poise and dominated the time of possession especially the first and last twenty of the game. Alliance scored once in each half, rattled the cross bar twice, and had a number of other near misses. Some strong saves by the Kentwood keeper and some unlucky breaks kept the margin of victory from being much larger. Alliance recorded their 9th shutout this fall and have outscored their opponents 20-2 in their 4 league games.
The team has 2 games this coming weekend. On Saturday morning they play Kentwood's u13 girls and Sunday afternoon they go up against the Tri-City Strikers u13 girls.
The u12 girls moved to 3-0 in the GVSA u13 Elite division, with a convincing 7-0 win against River Oaks 98 on Saturday. The offense looked impressive again, having now scored 18 goals in their 3 league games. Not to be outdone, the defense played very well once again, recording their 8th shutout of the season. The team is now alone in first place in the division, and is the only undefeated team left.
This coming weekend the girls face the second place Kentwood Falcons 99. This game at Brewer Park should play a big part in determining the eventual champion of the division.
After 3 out of town tournaments in 5 weekends, 2 of them out of state, the Alliance FC 99 Girls Black returned to league play this past weekend. Saturday's 3-2 victory over 17th ranked GR Crew Jrs 99 Gold, on their home field, moved the 3rd ranked A99GB to 2-0 in the GVSA u13 Elite Division. The early morning game, in a strong, cold wind, saw the team battle back from an early deficit to take control of the game in the second half. The girls have scored 11 goals in their 2 league games and are off to a great start this fall season.
This coming weekend the girls look to continue their winning ways with a home game at Brewer Park against 1-1 River Oaks, a team they have never faced before.
The Alliance 99 Girls Black, playing up in the u13 Elite division, started their fall league season out Saturday morning with a convincing 8-0 victory against TASC-Dammen 98. The game, played in a constant, heavy rain, saw 4 different Alliance players score. The defense played great again, recording their 6th shutout in 9 games this fall.
This coming weekend the girls will travel to Dublin, OH to play in the Ohio Premier Eagles Invitational. The girls will be playing in the u12 11v11 division at this Platinum rated tournament, against some of the best teams in the midwest.
The girls, playing up an age group, started their Labor Day weekend tournament with a victory. They won 3-0 against a defensive-minded Palatine Celtic u13 team. Next up at 5:30 this afternoon is TCSA Premier u13.
A 8-0 win in Saturday's second game vs TCSA Premier u13 sets the girls up for a Sunday morning showdown with the other 2-0 team in our bracket, Crystal Lake Force Elite u12. A win or a tie will put us into the semis as #1 team in our bracket.
The team won 5-0 in their 3rd game to win their bracket and advance to the semis Sunday afternoon, where they will play the wildcard Crystal Lake Force Elite u13.
The girls tied their semifinal game 1-1, but fell in PK's and did not advance to the finals. The team dominated in time of posession and shots on goal, but did not convert enough of our chances to repeat as Palatine Celtic Cup Champions.
