About The Site:
This website aims to provide an alternative view of Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. While many mainstream pictures of the cemetery aim to showcase the beautiful architecture and famous people buried there, this site provides pictures of lesser-known areas and viewpoints. Also, since most of the existing photographs and videos take place in the summer, spring, or fall, the photos on this site represent the area after a fresh winter snow fall. I captured these pictures though traveling by foot and by car.

My Experience
I traveled to Lake View Cemetery on Saturday, March 12th 2011. As a I live in Cleveland, I have visited the cemetery before, but only really remember the "main attractions" including the Garfield Memorial, The Wade Chapel, John D. Rockefeller's grave, etc. So, when I came back to explore the cemetery, I explored with the intention of documenting certain aspects of the cemetery that I had not noticed before. While driving through the cemetery, I would take pictures of certain unfamiliar places that caught my eye and would get out of the car at points to walk around and explore the road and the grave areas. Through my exploration, I took many pictures of images that are not widely found in the existing media about Lake View. These images portray the landscape, roads, trees, surrounding area, and graves (all covered by a blanket of snow) that many people see when they go to Lake View, but do not focus on. While I did not travel through the entire cemetery, the photos on this website give a taste of Lake View that is generally deemed "less important" and not widely represented. The map on the site shows that path that I took through the cemetery. The photos represent what I thought was interesting according to my criteria.
