Three T - I really want to see your pics. I went to flickr, and it says that the group is no longer active. Does anyone else have recent photos of Americana?

I have been lucky enough to be on the property within the last year. What is left of it any way. The Screechin' Eagle is now a pile of wood and steel on the ground and most of the rides are gone. The place has been pretty tagged up and vandalized horribly. But the "guts" of the park remain. But when I was there, the park with filled with construction equipment and the lake had been drained. I took well over 100 photos. I have them on Flickr if anyone cares to see them. But it is sad. http://www.flickr.com/groups/1880536@N22/

Thank you for the memories. My father hated chlorinated pools, so Lesourdsville was the only park we went to. I will never forget how hot the sand always was and you had to run across it to get to the water. My father would tell us of stories when he was young and go to the park. He said they rented bicycles to ride around the lake. Picnics were always fun there. It wasn't so big that you had to stay together as a group. But that was many years ago when life was easier and safer. I am in my 60's but will always remember the wonderful visits we had. Thank you, Janet B.

My grandparents frequented Lesourdsville lake in the in the late 30 and all thru the 40's. My grandfather love to dive from high boards showing off for my grandma i suposed. He also played trombone in a band that played there. and when not playing in the band they would just go and dance!... I too was a frequent visitor as a youngster as well as it being my local hang out as a teenager!... I would love for my kids to expierence it the way i did. great place great atmosphere and not too big that you are too worn out by the end of the day. Small enough that you had time to do everything!

I am from Kansas but would visit my Granny and Papaw every summer for the whole month. They live right up the road from Americana and the lake quickly became my annual hang out. I used to BEG to go. When driving by on my occasional holdiday vacations (now as a 24 year old) I still look to see if all the flags are flying and hope to get at least a peak of the screechin' eagle roller coaster. Gotta love it and definatley miss the good times! My granny sent me the add that was poasted in the Middletown Journal (Thursday May 19th, 2011) about the park and I wanted to stop by the site for a second to reminisces. Thank you for the memmories! :)

How do I add a picture? I was going to upload a picture of one of my personal treasures, a pair of Fascination tickets from Americana. My Dad was a heart patient and the Fascination game room was were he'd sit and cool off after walking a lot, or when the heat got too much. We'd sit in there and roll the balls and collect our tickets for whatever cheap trinkets I wanted at the time (hey, I was a kid). He later died when I was 18. After he passed I had the oppotunity to go back to Americana once more before it closed. I saved up enough tickets for same odd 3' tall Hindu(?) statue and made sure to pcket two of the Fasciantion tickets as souveniers. Just two little reminders of some quality time spent with my Dad at Americana.

Going to Americana is a favorite childhood memory of mine. We couldn't really afford going to Kings Island, so we went to Americana and it was so fun. My brother and I would each get to take a friend and my Mom would cook chicken and macaroni and cheese the night before so we could have a picnic for lunch. The park was safe enough that we could walk around by ourselves and my Mom and Dad would go play Fasanation (the game where you roll the balls). Sometimes I wish I could go back to that place to relive my childhood. As an adult sometimes it's comforting to escape to those places that bring you a sense of fun and no worries.

My family and I spent every summer at Americana. We would play hard all morning riding rides running through the park and then have a picnic lunch that my mom would pack. After lunch we had to wait that 30 minutes resting so that we could go swim for a few hours and then hit the rides again.... we looked forward to going every year. My sister who was younger than me got over her fear of riding the roller coaster becasue she got tired of hearing me complain about having to ride it by myself. I miss going there and would have loved for my children to have had the chance to experience the wonderful times that we had there as kids. PLEASE COME BACK>>>> It's so sad to know that it's just sitting there rotting away...

I remember going to Americana as a child. The first roller coaster that I ever rode on was the Screechin' Eagle. I will never forget those times. A wonderful part of my childhood is gone and I wish that I could have it back. Audrey Hayes, Eaton, OH.

I loved working at Americana and for a quiet guy like me, It helped me open up to all the fun and different people in the world. At the same time i even got to have a girlfriend for a short time there and i wasnt the dateable type, lol. However both 96 and 97 seasons were great and i miss how packed it was and how many kids i made happy by pushing a button. Got annoying sometimes seeing the same kids over an over, but overall i did have a great time.

I loved that place SO MUCH and it was a regular trip for my family. Too bad the modern era failed to support such a great place.

Ah, what a magical time in my life as a child there! Dad, my grandfather and my uncle all belonged to Antioch Shrine Temple in Dayton. We used to go down to LeSourdsville every year for Shrine Day and spend the entire day and evening there-ending with a huge fireworks show. BRING IT BACK!
