As you know this past August after our past regular tournament was held we had top eight the following day . Well there was a few things people yet did not know. We were Really one of the only clubs that held our tournament Saturday before our top eight. It was held the day after our normal schedule. I was on the water in belle river side when we fished our regular tournament; I saw and spoke with lots of boats and clubs pre-fishing that day. I told them the tournament was today while I was fishing .They asked about the top eight . He said we were crazy for fishing the day before the top eight and i just said" hey this is just like pre-fishing for us ". when our club fishes we are very competitive and have a lot of great fisherman/women . Even when we stomp each others butts we still tend to hint to help. With the help we needed are boats were put in the right places at the right time . Going in as the underdawgs we were unnoticed and un spoke of , But no one knew the amite river couples carried secret weapons with mix and match fishers. " women" and Men, Women and men which is something new in district five carried by MR.James and his wife Sharlot. One of are popular fisherman aka " "Larry" fished with his opposing team, rather than us, "quotes" last year " women" were why they did not win the past year. little did Larry know that his amite river couples team had fish up there sleeves. sooner or later to come back and fin slap him in the face to wake him up and show him which team had everything it took to win. when we went to weigh in we had a few mishaps with a dead truck battery. Passing that up while weighing our fish we were shaky and scared but every couple came out with fish . Nice 2lb fish came out bags and every couple had the fish to win the top eight. There was one fish out of many we caught that made a dramatic change in our weight, a brilliant fisherman Mr.Ed (my partner) came out with a lunker 3.46 to Carry our team to the #1 spot. 2nd place was around eighteen lbs and everyone thought we were not close to that. Walking to the wiegh in Mrs.Sharlot one of the clubs Owner, said while hanging her head, "we dont have Eighteen lbs"! . I knew we had over that and I told her: hey we got this .Standing around in the background we hear bayou couples with 19.96 lbs. Everyone in the club was so happy and we were happy as could be. I though Mrs.Sharlot was gonna do a flip from the stage she was so exited. Not only to win But to show Larry what he was getting him self into. I just wanted to say everyone fished great and I cant wait for more days like these . We will only progress and get better as we fish and the better we get the farther we go in fishing. I want to give a special thanks to everyone who put these events together. Our next tournament will be held in red river and hopefully everyone will make it and hope to see you there.
P.S Larry i bet you fish with the women now. haha.
1 st ! place Amite river couples top eight Congradulations !
We would like to say thank you to each person and company who donated their time, money, ideas, facilty, items and efforts to help ensure this years ALBC District 5 Youth Tournament was a success. This was our clubs first year to host the tourmanent and it was a huge success. The children and their families had a wonderful time. Even with the heat, there were no complaints. I have received many emails and phone calls telling me what a wonderful time they and that they want to know when the next one will be. We had 96 participants, and each child left with something thanks to all of you. Again, for those of you who helped in any way, thank you so very much and we are looking forward to next year.
