Day in my Life Feb 2010

Wake up
Read and respond to emails from my husband, check my facebook and google reader

Kiddos wake up
Turn on some music to get us in the right mind frame for the day

The boys start chores
These are Andrew's current chore card. He is almost 6. They also have tasks they do during the day as they come up, but these are the morning chores.

IMG_8056.JPG
While the boys are doing their chores, I am emptying the dishwasher from the night before, prepping breakfast and any other kitchen work that needs to be done.

IMG_8058.JPG
Abigail is playing close by. When Andrew finishes his chores he usually just runs around playing wild for a bit. He has a lot of energy to get out! Peter is usually the last done with his chores.

Breakfast
and we are trying to once again read the Word at every meal. We read it and discuss how to apply it to our lives after we eat.

Starting to get dinner ready
I usually do any dinner prep now. That way dinner can be ready when husband comes home from work. Even when he is gone I am in the habit and it works out best for us!
This is going to be greek beef and orzo, probably my current favorite meal!

reload dishwasher
clean up any mess from breakfast and dinner prep

IMG_8084.JPG
I check that chores were done well, anything not done completely is finished up.

farmville
I let the boys start playing this week. Daddy is a fan of video games and watching TV. Mommy is not, so when he is gone, we dont. But I gave in, so we all do this together a couple times a day.

Showers
Here is where we take turns showering. Who ever is not showering puts their laundry away. While the littles are in the bath, I sort laundry, clean the bathroom or get some reading in, so I can watch them and be productive :)

Starting school
The boys start their independent work (math, drawing) while I tidy up, dust, start laundry etc
When they finish we move on to the school work we do together (language arts, reading, spelling, history etc)

Abigail hates loud noises.
This is where I find her when I vacuum.

snack time
usually fruit. Peter made himself a fruit salad.

snack time
Abigail wanted just avocado and cherries.

Today was not Usual
Abigail painted while I worked with the boys. When I was working with just Andrew, Peter painted, and when I was working with Peter Andrew painted. Painting happens once a month around here.

THIS is why we dont paint much
How 3 children with a total of 6 hands can use over 10 brushes is beyond me!

Andrew
working hard

IMG_8070.JPG
Mommy got sharpening duty today. Seems like something always needs sharpening in this house!

Lunch time
Today was leftovers, which look horrible but were really good. It is a vegetable stew the boys call "Knight's stew" because we got the recipe when we went to a Medieval village. It has veggies like parsnips and kale, a billion others and some barley. They served it with a bit of vinegar so we do too. After we eat, Bible again. Just a few verses.

clean up from lunch
and start the dishwasher

Andrew
reading to me. Peter is at an age where he hates being photographed, so he avoided the camera at all costs today.

Peter brought the mail in
It's Tuesday so I take maybe half an hour to pour over the ads, see who has the best sales this week, and make my shopping plan for the week.

Game time
Abigail and I played with Andrew, Peter was still doing some school work.

Again not typical
The sun came out so we took advantage of it and caught up on yard work. Peter shoveled, (and normally he mows, but he was behind on his shoveling so I did). Andrew raked, Peter swept.

potty training
I felt like I spent half my day in here. Abigail is starting to potty train, so all day long I hear "potty time!" and half the time it is a false alarm..

dinner
HORRIBLE picture, but it was so good. This is Abigail's plate. We had Greek beef with orzo, and cucumber slices.

After dinner
We made and ate some homemade strawberry ice cream (more strawberry than cream), we played Clue and Sequence and checked our Farmville. Mommy did a little emailing.

bed time
Bible stories, brush teeth, tucking in, all that good stuff!

Caught
After they are in bed, I come online again, I do my Bible study, and books I am reading, and any chores I can get a head start on (most nights)
When I went into the room to get the camera out so I could upload this, I found a sweet girl had crawled into my bed to sleep instead!

Since it is December we start our day with CHRISTmas lights being turned on. It wont get light until 9 am!

IMG_0322.JPG
6 am
Waking up super early to make Daddy breakfast before he leaves. This is the HARDEST thing for me to do faithfully, but it blesses him SOOO much, so I try!

IMG_0287.JPG
6:30 am, I was so tired this morning so I was hoping to rest a bit on the couch while Abigail played dolls, but she had other ideas, so I had to get up and handle a big tantrum instead. Such is life.
I completely admit I should have had quiet time first too, but it did not happen this morning. Not an ideal day to do "Day in the Life" but an honest version of it!

IMG_0289.JPG
Brothers wake up and start their chores!
Andrew is feeding the dogs.

IMG_0291.JPG
Peter would rather read first thing than do chores, he was quickly set back on task!

IMG_0295.JPG
Breakfast is finished. A mason jar is NOT the best place to store maple syrup, but we buy it in bulk from a co-op and it comes that way.

IMG_0288.JPG
Abigail pretending to have a Moby wrap. She spends most of her day practicing to be "mama", oh how this girl blesses my heart!
