Recap of the past 4 months
August 1st, 2010 "Reviving the Rebozo" was officially released. This project is my first professional endeavor as a Producer and Director. The film has been well received at all conferences it has been presented at. By September, it has received international distribution.
We continue to market the film and share these child-birthing techniques with women across the world.
The feature film, with Buskerfly Productions, finished up production a few weeks ago. Recently, Centre Communications released a series called, "1st Amendment in the 21st Century". It is being distributed through a company called Ambrose Video. I was a camera operator as well as an assistant editor on the project. We are currently working on two series, "The History of Civil Rights in America" and "The History of Equal Rights in America" I am getting great experience in editing.
I have been asked to be a Steadicam Operator for a project in February of 2011. I will be reviewing the script in the upcoming weeks. I am looking forward to another workshop in London in the early month of next year.
Beginning of the summer
The beginning of the summer has turned out to be very busy, but very rewarding. I am starting to get the hang of things at my new job, at Centre Communications and Ambrose Video. I was also offered a position as an AC on a feature film. Rebozo project is in its final stages. The dvd-authoring and duplication will be finished at the end of this week. Very exciting. My career is on its way!
New Job
I interviewed last Monday for a job at Centre Communications. Last Thursday, they called me and offered me the job. I will be doing PR work and editing. I'm excited to be working full time again! I hope for this to be a great new spurt for my career.
Rebozo Shoot
Preproduction for the Rebozo project is completed and the Production phase has begun. Last Thursday the first day of shooting for the video went amazingly well. Phil was a great AD, James was a great photographer, very flexible and took amazing photos. Bruce and Miguel from People Productions were in good spirits and did a fantastic job with the lighting. Overall, the day went great and I can't wait to start working on the rough cut.
Steadicam Workshop
The workshop went amazingly well. I am just as excited about working as a Steadicam operator as the first time I tried one on. The location where it was held in Bicester, England was a golf and spa hotel surrounded by the greenest countryside I have ever seen. The chaps in the workshop where very friendly and easy to get along with. A few of us went out the Saturday evening for my birthday and we all shared a few drinks. A fantastical way to spend a birthday, I must say.
Recap of Travels in Europe
Astounding, magnificent, brilliant and wondrous. My journey's to England, France and Spain proved to be more then I had ever imagined. I learned many things about life, common things, like appreciation of good flavor in food, fashion and history. I have developed more respect for other people and myself through this trip. I also have realized that my dreams are obtainable and I should always keep an open mind when thinking about the future.
London Trains
Here are some things I have learned about international traveling...and I haven't even left yet. There are some credit unions that have debit cards that do not work internationally. The easiest way to make purchases internationally is through a credit card. 2. Not every company is good at customer service. Some people and companies are educated about local economy and some people have a broader education. When traveling internationally, make sure the people you are talking to have an international understanding bubble.
Steadicam Workshop
I am leaving for England next Tuesday for a Steadicam Workshop. I have been working out and running a lot to get back in shape. I am really looking forward to meeting new people. Hopefully I can make some new connections in London, friends I can go visit and work with. ^_^
Music Video Update
I have done some shots with Zade. Pretty wicked images of ink in water. Showed Dave the raw footage and he loved it. I need to schedule and finish the shoot, so I can get in the editing room. I'm hoping this Saturday I can make some progress.
Music Video Update
I had a meeting last night with the manager Dave. He said that he loves the idea for the video. Zade and I will meet tomorrow to complete storyboards and the shooting schedule. The tentative release date is to coincide with the release of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland film. March 5th. The next few weeks will determine if this is realistic or not.
Music Video
I have started production on a music video for a band call Michael and Spider. I will be interested to see how the production progresses. I am working with a friend, Zade Piller, on camera and concept.
2010 Begins
A brand new year. Its funny how self imposed dates can provide opportunity for growth.
Goals for this year: Steadicam Workshop, Rebozo Video, Fat Tire commercial and The Mag Crew screenplay.
Overview of January: I had a great family reunion with all my family on my mother's side. A fantastic three floor house complete with shuffleboard, a pool table, a hot tub and enough family to embarrass the whole town. I started working at Cafe de Paris in the later part of December and continued through January working 3 or 4 days a week. This encouraged me to work again. The last week of January, I picked up a second job at McGuckins, a family owned hardware store. It should pay the bills for a little while.
I also started an internship at a company called People Productions. This seems to be a good opportunity to learn some new things about my industry. I have been transferring, copying, and labeling DVDs, transcribing videos, and some subtitling. It also looks like I might have an opportunity to produce the Rebozo video with my mother through People Productions. Super exciting stuff.
As of today, the begining of the second week in Febuary, I am going to London to attend the Steaicam workshop for my birthday. I even have my plane tickets. This year has started out better then I ever expected.
