BAIRE'S CAFE' - Jazz Man Jed Sparks
Jazz Man Jed Sparks is one of the many performers who has appeared at Art Walk Downtown Marion.
New Beginnings Cafe ended the season with on November 12th with featured Poet - Louise Robertson (Columbus) –
Downtown Poets closed the 2010 season.
Breaking its popular monthly poetry series at New Beginnings Café for the winter, a special performance by Central Ohio writer and performer Louise Robertson will be offered at 141 East Center Street on Friday, November 12th 2010 beginning at 6:30 pm. Louise, a George Mason MFA recipient, who counts the Mary Roberts Rinehart award to her name, is also winner of high honors in Ohio with two first place finishes at the Columbus Arts Festival.
Louise is widely published among small presses, as well her own monthly chapbooks projects which have been done for two years running. She slams regularly at the Writers' Block Poetry Night in Columbus, Ohio where she runs press and web for the reading. Louise directs the Columbus Page Meets Stage series and will serve as the Women of the World Poetry Slam Host City Chair in 2011. She lives with her two children, Carrie and Andrew, in central Ohio.
For your listening pleasure and entertainment Downtown Poets is bringing back Akron based singer songwriter Nick Wilkinson. Nick, originally from Marion, has never failed to entertain his audience adding his love of music and enthusiasm for life to us for a fantastic date night for all ages. Coney Corner Sports Grill has some of the most delicious dogs this side of New York city, located at 153 South Main Street you will feel right at home in their Scarlett and Gray all the way rooms or just kick back and enjoy a cold one on the patio and share a game with you friends.
Baries is a great place to feel right at home. If you know Spanish, Marcela will greet you in her native language. The owners are originally from Argentina and love to chat if they have time. Baries is a busy, delicious place to visit. They serve Argentinian and American fare and offer mouth watering specials every week.
Infinity Restaurant offers white linnen or bar stool dining in two fun dining areas. They offer great steaks, luscious oriental chicken and cold beer!
Warehouse Italian Restaurant is the place to go for delicious authentic Italian food of the Old World. Taste sauces and food prepared from scratch just like Mama would have made. Let them pour you a glass of wine and bring you your favorite meal. At the Warehouse you can step back in time to when things were a little simpler and there was always time for great food, family & friends.

Summer Events in Downtown Marion!
Lots of good things happening in Downtown Marion so far this summer. We had some big events in June, with the Cruisin' for Dialysis Car Show, Celebrate Summer Festival and the Marion County Fair. We had a blast with these events.
The ArtWalk event was great on July 9th. If you haven't been to an ArtWalk yet, this is a perfect time to visit. Next one is August 13th, 2010 There will be live music, working artists and chances to win. Lots of opportunities to shop, explore, relax and enjoy.
Marvelous May!
Do you LOVE art? Come join fellow art lovers every Sunday in May from 2pm to 4pm at Downtown Marion's Historic Courthouse Square for the Marion Art Project's Marvelous May event! This event focuses creative attention upon one historic Marion architectural landmark each year.
Bring sketchpad, easel, camera, pencils or paints, whatever your medium. Or just come by and see what's going on. There will be music and complimentary snacks from Peacock Water and Wyandot Inc. You may also enjoy tasty treats from New Beginnings Cafe, located directly across Center Street from the Courthouse.
There are no admission to these events. All are welcome. Come and enjoy! (Rain or shine.)

Marvelous May was in the Marion Star, but it did not get headlines. It was sent to the Dispatch and local TV stations, but we did not have anyone go on the radio or TV. We still have three weeks so it may show up yet! Artists can print out entry form and rules at

the marvelous may is a great idea and it starts off slow but it can get bigger and i think if we can get it on the radio and the paper it might work on making it bigger

Fun was had at the Marvelous May event on Sunday in spite of the wind and ominous clouds. The music was great and I enjoyed being able to talk to fellow artists. Hope it's sunny for next week's event! Cross fingers....
