Riverview Farm, Plainfield, NH
Sitting on the Franklins’ porch in late spring, it was obvious where Riverview Farm’s name comes from, but that wasn’t always so.  When Nancy and Paul Franklin bought the property and moved there from Meriden ...
September Notes
The 2014 Eastern States Exposition got off to a great start last week, and New Hampshire Day is this Friday, September 19. High school and college students have long since returned to classes—leaving many farmers short-handed through these last busy weeks of the growing season. Some agriculture students find other work or internship opportunities that support their education and career goals. Evan Holmes of Holmes Farm in Langdon was selected for the Farm Credit Fellows program, and spent most of his summer working with Farm Credit East in the Cortland, NY office, wrapping up with a shorter time in August at Yankee Farm Credit’s White River Jct., VT office.

Spring Hill Farm, Sanbornton, NH
“Health, Heritage, Harmony” – words written boldly on the sign for Spring Hill Farm, an 85 acre farm in the small town of Sanbornton, New Hampshire...When asked to elaborate, Eric said, “For ‘health,’ the Hippocrates quote, ‘let food be thy medicine’ sums it up.” For “heritage,” he’s talking about his passion for preserving the land, the animal breeds he’s raising, and their 1800s house. As for “harmony,” a visitor can see such concord in the use of livestock, compost, and minerals to restore the soil in order to grow the most nutritious and robust fruits and vegetables.
Blueberry Puff
Puffs is not quite the right word - it's more like an upside down soft muffin. Delicious as a dessert with ice cream or for breakfast. Recipe is from Newport's Bartlett Blueberry Farm. Other berries and thinly sliced apples work well too Recipe calls for using 5-6 custard cups. I vegetable sprayed 12 muffin tins and they unmolded beautifully..

THE ATKINSON FARMERS MARKET IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER 2014 SEASON EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - THERE WILL BE NO MARKETS ON OR AFTER AUGUST 9, 2014!!

It is with much sadness that I post to inform all that the Atkinson Summer Farmers Market has decided to close for business on Saturdays at Freshwater Farms. Our gracious hosts, Freshwater Farms, is certainly still very much open for your continued faithful patronage, but the summer market has been forced to retire. Please do continue to follow, attend and support our vendors at our future food and craft fairs. Our vendors can also still be found on this website under the "Vendors" tab. Please do continue to support them.

This sad decision was reached after the majority of our vendors decided that customer patronage was not balancing their costs to remain open for business.
