Sterling and copper hollow-form pendants
These pendants are fabricated from silver and copper sheet which was first photo-etched to achieve the texture. Although these pieces were made by a second semester student at Southwestern College, at the Annex you would gain all the skills needed by attending the following classes:

Tree Bracelet
Sawn, hammered and formed copper.

Copper Cuff
Careful planning helped create this etched, sawn, and hammered copper cuff.

Deco Cuff

Boy-and-his-bike Pendant
Pierced and stamp textured silver joined with stand-off rivets form this pendant. A "Riveted Texture Pendant" by an advanced student.

Modern Candleholder
Inspired by 50's architecture, this candleholder required much patient sawing.

Temple Candleholder
Sweat-soldering and careful surface sanding were both needed to complete this piece.

Cairo Night Candleholder
Each surface was etched or hammered with texture, the negative spaces were pierced with the jeweler's saw, then the planes soldered together.

Constructed from sterling silver, with hand-patterned mokume-gane face.

Enamel Turtle Box
A variation on the "Soldered Ring Box" by an advanced student, this box includes an enameled 'shell' - set in place on the lid in a bezel setting. Note use of stamp texture for feet, head, and tail.

Silver & Turquoise Pendants
Forged silver linear elements combine with turquoise stones in a simple bezel setting.

Heavily textured brass and copper hammer-formed to create an organic box.

Fly Bracelet
A photo-etched plate forms the centerpiece of a silver cuff bracelet.

Guggenheim Box
Lots of sawing, careful fitting, and fearless soldering were required to make this copper box.

Gingko Earrings
Hammer textured copper and silver.

Disc Earrings
Rollerprinted brass cut into circles, with forged linear elements of copper and brass.

Mokume-gane chess set
First the mokume-gane was patterned with the traditional Japanese chisel method, then the metal was sawn in to shape, folded and formed to fit.

Torso
Woman's torso raised from a flat sheet of copper. This is the student's first raised vessel.

Texture Samples
On the left, a simple etching done with nail polish and a scribe. On the right, a mirror-images plate created with the rolling mill.

Flower Earrings
Silver and titanium earrings. Titanium petals riveted to a silver layer.

Forged Brooch
Multiple sections of heavy brass and copper wire have been forged, formed and soldered to create this irrepressible brooch. Take "Forged Silver Necklace" or Hammered Wire Ring" to learn how!

Triangle Brooch
A paper model enabled this student to create a dimensional triangle with only one solder seam. Linear elements soldered from the back - all sterling silver.

Forged Earrings
A simple forged shape, repeated in brass and sterling silver create these effective earrings.

Dark Pyramid
Geometric shapes and negative space play off each other in this complex oxidized copper candleholder. The feet are four-sided hollow-form pyramids.

Bee Box
Rollerprinted silver form the walls and lid of this hexagonal box. The bee was fanricated separately, soldered on, and the the glass stone set last.

Oval Earrings
One repeated shape with variation in detail form an interesting set of 3 pairs of earrings. Make similar work by taking the "Hollow-form Pendant" class.

Arrow Box
Etched texture complements the shape of this copper box.

Bone Bracelet
The inscription "I've Got A Bone to Pick With You" runs around this literal bracelet! Learn the same skills in "Sweat-soldered Earrings" and "Silver Cuff Bracelet"

Titanium Neckpiece
Titanium discs have been patterned and colored with electricity, then strung onto silver wire for this light, dramatic piece. Watch for occasional titanium workshops taught at Southwestern College, sponsored by the SWC Jewelry & Metal Arts Club.

Layered titanium and sterling silver earrings - separated with stand-off tube rivets.

Dancer Pendant
Thick sterling silver has been etched with the simple silhouette of a dancer.

Simple geometric shapes in copper and sterling silver - a good "Sweat-soldered Earrings" project.

Etched Copper Urn
Simple imagery of waving grass has been etched onto this pet funerary urn. Copper, with hammered and etched surface texture.

Three Searching
An etched centerpiece outlined with textured copper and brass. Create a similar piece in "Rollerprint Window Pendant" or "Riveted Texture Pendant"

Geometric Ring
An accurate paper model was essential in the creation of this sterling silver ring. The components were etched while flat, then formed to squares and soldered together. The linear element and bezel were soldered, then finally the stone set.

Tulip
With patience and ingenuity, almost any shape can be created from metal. This copper tulip is formed with two pierced and sunken discs, a spiculum, and two fold-formed leaves.

Monterey Commute
The mokume-gane 'wheel' was patterned separately, then cold-connected with a copper and brass fabricated 'seat.'
