AYC descended upon the Amway Arena today for the Cheer, Dance and Step competition. UCA helped our girls put on a great show!
The Arena was rocking with the hottest tunes, cheers and spirit from across the country. The competition was especially fierce in the U11 and U13 divisions, with teams scoring within mear sliver of a margin from each other. The day was capped as Oak Grove took first place in the U15 division.
Congratulations to all of our athletes and we'll see you next year!
Although it was cold and windy at Austin Tindall Park today - spirits were still flying high with AYF athletes. Championship games were competive and heated with a few going into overtime. There were fantastic finishes and heart breaking losses, but regardless of who won or lost - the competition was fierce. Most games came down to the wire - like our conference All-Star championship between Pheonix and Chicagoland. It doesn't get better than this!
Or does it? The cheerleaders have arrived in Orlando to prepare for tomorrow's cheerleading competition. Some girls braved the cold to support their local football team. One thing is for sure... they will be raising the roof tomorrow at the Amway Arena!
Today was jam packed with action... Over 400 AYF athletes participated in the Under Armour Combine - testing their skills in many stations including, sit and reach, the 40 and the broad and vertical jump. Many AYFers broke the 5 second mark in the 40 and hundreds more were not far behind. Keep up the good work! Also, congrats to the Copeland Park Saints, taking first place in the All-American 6th grade division. The victory was well deserved, as the Bridgeport Chargers, definitely gave them a run for their money! Can't wait to see the upcoming action!
The Mitey Mites opened their invitational tournament today. It was awesome to see who will be the face of football in 20 years. These guys really played their heart out! Meanwhile, on the other side of Austin Tindall, Sirius/XM Radio broadcasted live from the Under Armour Combine Field. Youth football guru, Scott Lancaster had the chance to sit down with our President Joe Galat and many other AYF partners to get their thoughts on what youth football means to them. The best part of the day? The rain held out until the very end of the day's games!
What a great day to kick-off the 2009 tournament. It was a bit on the cooler side for Florida, but the day heated up along with the action on the field! Buses came in droves to Austin Tindall Park in Kissimmee, FL by 8:00a.m. Players had a great time, playing in their first round games, playing video games and winning prizes at the Wilson Video Game Lounge. They also had the opportunity to check out the new 2010 Under Armour gear in the Under Armour trailer. I'm totally pumped that many of the teams made it to Orlando despite the snowy weather all around the country!
Wow! Registration at the Omni Championsgate was busy! Due to snow in the northeast and (believe it or not) HOUSTON, many teams wound up at the Omni toward the end of the day. As teams weighed in and got their AYF swag, many friends from all around the country had the chance to reunite for yet another year. Can't wait for tomorrow!
The AYF/AYC team has begun to arrive in Orlando. A year's worth of preparation is coming to life here at the Omni ChampionsGate and Austin Tindall Park. We are painting the town to welcome our AYF/AYC family! We can't wait for you all to get here!
For those of you who aren't able to join us, we miss you! Check back here to check it out - and see your friends in action.
