To Birth Families:
Adam & Ashley Barlow-Thompson are a young couple living in Kansas who are passionate about adoption & hope to start a family very soon!
About Us: Adam & Ashley are fun-loving, 27 year olds who have been married for two years & serve as pastors in the United Methodist Church. We have two cats, a dog, & a lot of love to give!
Our Family: Adam grew up with two sisters & Ashley was adopted and has one brother. We have over 100 people in our extended family & feel very close to our parents & grandparents. All of the Barlows & Thompsons can’t wait to welcome a new member into their family as we get ready to adopt!
What we Love: Ashley is an avid scrapbooker & loves to read. Adam loves the outdoors & plays guitar. Our favorite activities together are throwing parties, playing board games, & eating ice cream!
What we want to give: Ashley & Adam are hoping to give love, support, guidance, hope, family, faith, education, safety, fun & our whole hearts to the child that becomes our newest family member.
Contact us: If you are thinking about sharing your child with a forever family, please think of us. We are ready to be parents & hope to fill our home with the joy, laughter & the love of a child!

Licensing... here we come!
Adam and I are on our final steps of becoming licensed foster parents. The pets went in today for their check ups and shots... now we have to do the same.
The question is, where do we look for a doctor? Our previous doctor here in Wichita moved away, so we are back to square one. Any suggestions on finding a doctor that works?
Thanks!
Hurry Up and Wait!
Since beginning the adoption process, Adam and I have tried to be as on top of our Adoption "To Do" List as we are excited about welcoming a child into our home.
With all of the classes, paperwork, and home studies under our belts, we are now in a "hurry up and wait" situation. The plus is that we have done all that we can at this point to get ready for our future child. The minus is that without a project to work on, we have a lot of what I like to call "baby energy" all stored up!
As we continue our adoption journey, we are so thankful for the support our family, friends, colleagues and church members give us and hope to have another project come up soon. Hopefully it will be painting and furnishing a baby or toddler room!
It's Official: We Need Help!
Adam and I have been thinking about, researching, taking classes, and filling out paperwork so that we might someday adopt since last January. It has been an overwhelming process but a good one; as non-parents, we have been learning a lot about who we are as a couple, the reality of becoming a "forever family" (hipster phrase for adoptive families), and what we need to do to get through the process.
As of last Tuesday, we are finally beginning to feel like our hard work is paying off! We finished our state-sponsored adoption and fostering classes, got in touch with a state-endorsed foster care recruiter, created our family's look book (see the right hand column) and are finally finishing the paperwork for our private adoption lawyer.
AND! Best news yet, we are finally making our adoption process official! This week, Adam and I sent out a blanket email to our loved ones, letting them know about our journey and asking for their help.
I guess that means, if you are reading this site, that we are turning to you! Adam and I are so excited to start our family and can't wait to help kids who need a stable, loving home. If you hear of any connections, organizations, birth families, or whispers in the wind about the need for a "forever family" or the desire to adopt, please let us know!
As we work through our process, we will keep you posted on the journey.
The next step: meeting in our home for our final evaluation from our Foster Care and Adoption Teacher! More soon!
