For those of you who missed the business meeting on Saturday, August 6th, Dot Lovett, Carla Lowry and Joanna Davis shared information about the Hope Alliance Women FORE Hope Tournament this fall. Serving Williamson and Norther Travis Countie, Hope Alliance provides emergency shelter and othe life-saving services to over 2,000 survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
A recent Austin Statesman news article reports that Williamson County is cutting more than $13,000 of funding to this group which provides shelter and counseling for abused women and children, many of whom "get out with only the shirts on their backs".
For additional information about the organization and ways to contribute, please refer to HopeAllianceTX.org and the attachments with this news item.

Our Match Play Clinic on Thursday, March 10, was excellent, especially with all the help from David Mauldin and our mentors: Dede Conner, Cindy Edgar, Glenda Hunt, Dot Lovett, and Carla Lowry.
The handout with the Rules Summary and Sample Scorecards is now posted in the Rules Section on our Documents page.
While you're there, check out a couple YouTube videos on some of the most common situations you will encounter in Match Play and Stroke Play. During our clinic we had several questions and opportunities to apply these. Get acquainted with all your options so you know when Rules Can Be Your Friend...(or Not).
Invite a partner from another club and register your team at the Pro Shop. If you'd like to play but don't know someone to invite, talk to Carla Lowry. She can help you out. There are limited slots for LGA participants.
Deadline to register and pay is April 8. No refunds after April 15.
Please see the LGA Flyer attachment for event details. A Guest Invitation file is provided to send to your guest.

Message from Cindy Edgar: Our 2011 shirts are in. Be sure to pick yours up from the Pro Shop!
In case you missed the article from David Mauldin in the January Club newsletter, here is important information about revisions to the Berry Creek local rules.
*****
Please make note of the following changes to our local rules:
· The flower bed on #12 is marked within the hazard, and players are no longer allowed relief without penalty. Your options are to play the ball as it lies, or take relief according to the rules of golf.
· Stones in bunkers may no longer be removed.
· Players may now play off of, or stand on (with extreme caution) the rubber pond liner on holes #8 & 9.
· We have removed previously noted local rules that are duplications of those covered in the Rules of Golf.
· As always, if there is any doubt as to a rule or procedure, the player may play two balls and receive a ruling following play.
The Awards Brunch on Saturday, December 4, was a day to recognize and honor so many members for their achievements and contributions to the LGA. Congratulations to all the winners and to all who participated making 2010 a terrific golf season.
Check out the attachement for additional details and competitors.
At the recent LGA Business Meeting held on Saturday, November 20, members voted to approve the slate of officers proposed by the nominating committee. Congratulations to our new officers for 2011:
We've received an Invitation from Star Ranch to participate in their Spring Round Up March 29, 2011. See flyer for details.
If you are looking for Jackie Nolan, she has a new email ID. For this update and others, please view our web site Directory Page.

Golf Committee Report....
In an effort to preserve the condition of the course, the Board of Governors has approved a policy to suspend all golf on Mondays beginning May 24th. The greens reconstruction requires full access to the greens and fairways by the project contractor. The practice putting green will also be completely closed for renovation. The suspension of Monday play will be in effect through the reconstruction period of time or until further notice.
The superintendent and his staff will be working to complete several projects as the greens are being reconstructed. In addition, the fairways will be watered thoroughly on Mondays. Suspending all play will allow the course time to recover from regular play.
The Committee appreciates full adherence to the policy. If you have questions or concerns regarding the suspension, please contact Andrew Capps or any member of the Golf Committee. The Golf Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. General Membership comments/concerns are addressed at each meeting.
The Golf Committee will monitor the suspension policy with the continued use of a marshal and through general membership reports. |
