Center updates

January 2012

We are proud to announce that our center is now a Star Level 2 in the Illinois Quality Counts: Quality Rating System.  This means we are going the extra mile to make sure that all of your children are receiving an enhanced learning and care experience.  We have also had many changes made to our staff over the last few months.  In the baby room there is now Ms.Gail, Ms.Amber, Ms.Nicole, and Ms.Taylor.  The two-year old class room is now co-taught by Ms.Heather and Ms.Cathy.  The Headstart preschool room is co-taught by Ms.Rebekah and Ms.Sandy.  The other preschool room is taught by Ms.Jody with some help from Ms.Taylor in the afternoons.  We were happy to see the snow and will be very sad to see it go!

March and April 2011

March and April have been very busy for us at Step by Step.  We have been making some much needed upgrades to the center as well as having some special visitors come to see us.  We celebrated Week of the Young Child by having fun days that we participated in.  We also received the exciting new that we received the Quality Counts Grant.  We will soon have many new things in our progam (See the signs on the doors at the center for a list and pictures of the items).  We are really not liking all of this rain though. We are ready for sunshine!

January and February 2011

It has been really cold this winter with entirely to much snow.  Hopefully the warm up that is coming in the next week will stick around for a while.  We are excited for the warmer weather because we can play outside again.  We haven't been able to make it out much due to the ice.

You may have noticed some staffing changes in our center as well.  Whitney from the baby room has moved to a school age position in Alton.  We now have Amber as our closing teacher in the infant and toddler room.  She has been in the child care field for five years now and has a toddler of her own at home.  We also have Tailore starting on Monday as a teacher aide during lunches and in the afternoon.  Dezaray also moved to the preschool classroom with Cathy.

Director's Note

My name is Lindsey Aholt.  Many of you may know me from the other rooms, I have recently become the Director of the Bethalto Center.  I have a Bachelors Degree from Western Illinois University in Elementary Education.  I have worked with all three of the Step by Step centers since May of 2006.  I started out working during school breaks as a substitute and eventually became a full time teacher before becoming director.  I am excited for my new position and look forward to working with all of you.  If you have any questions, concerns, or compliments feel free to contact me!

We have many pictures and videos on each classroom page; however,  to view the individual pages for each classroom, you must first join our site as a member.
