The Barnhills Get Hitched!
This is a little late getting up, but this past week has been surprisingly busy. On June 13, 2009, Sarah Morgan Long and Lee Barnhill got married!
What an amazing weekend we had with our friends. Everything was so wonderful, starting with a brunch for Sarah and all her bridesmaids on Friday morning. The brunch was given by some of Mrs. Libby's friends from church. It was held at an absolutely beautiful home in Collierville. The food was fantastic and we all just got to hang out for a bit before all the major wedding festivities began.
Later that afternoon, we started off to the church for rehearsal. Then, out of nowhere, there was an awful storm that hit the Memphis area. 70mph winds, power outages, etc. Bill, Melissa and I were stuck at a gas station while the storm passed. The weather was really scary. However, we finally made it to rehearsal and then on to the rehearsal dinner at The Butcher Shop.
The food was incredible! Bill ate his entire meal, plus most of my dessert. Then, the speeches began. I had this lovely speech all typed out, saying exactly what i wanted to say to Lee and Sarah, and of course, within the very first sentence, I began to cry. I can't help myself. haha. Everyone gave great speeches and we shared an amazing night together, laughing and crying and celebrating the fabulous couple!
The wedding day was so realaxing. Melissa, Monica and I went to get our hair done at our friend, Beth's house. She is an amzing hair stylist, who has never been trained to do hair...figures. After we left there, we went on to the church for pictures and to get dressed.
The wedding was incredibly sweet and you could just tell Sarah and Lee were so very happy. I felt so blessed to not only be in the wedding, but to also be Sarah's Matron of Honor. After the wedding, we all headed to Opera Memphis, where their reception was held.
Rock-n-Robin was the DJ and he was an absolutle blast! It was so much fun! We got to see a ton of our old college friends and just hang out and enjoy the night. I wish I could have said the food was great, but I never ate. I did have a meatball and a small dollop of potatoes, but that was it! If it even counts, those were pretty tasty!
All in all, it was an incredible weekend and two of our best friends got married, which makes it even better. Check out the pictures in the Photo Album that I posted.
It was an incredible wedding and I could not be happier for Sarah and Lee! Congratuations !
Sarah's Bachelorette Party Weekend
Just got back from another great weekend in Memphis. I left on Thursday morning to hang out with my mom for a few days and then we had Sarah's bachelorette party on Saturday night.
Spend Thursday with my mom and some of her old Bunko firends. We were supposed to go swimming, but it was so incredibly cold and such bad weather that we ended up sitting inside, covered with blankets. June days should not be that cold. However, the food and company were great.
Then, on Friday, we set out all over Memphis to find Sarah and Lee a wedding present from Mom and Dad. We were in Millington, Collierville and then we finally found what we were looking for right at Wolfchase Galleria. My philosophy is now to always start at Macys. They have everything. We did get to eat at Cafe Piazza in the Collierville Square and it was incredible! It is a little salad and pizzeria place. FABULOUS PIZZA! I had eaten there once before and I am so glad we went back, because it was better than I had remembered.
Saturday was the big Bachelorette Party Day. It was so much fun. Got to see all my friends. We started out at the Hampton Inn and Suites for a pre-party lingerie shower and a few appetizers. Then, we headed to Mollie Fontaine's Lounge, which was an adorable little restaurant/bar. We stayed there for a few hours and then headed back downtown to Swig (called something else now) where we ran into most of the Memphis Basketball team from last year. I did get my picture with one of my favorites, Chris Douglas Roberts. We also saw Joey Dorsey, Antonio Anderson and a few new Memphis players. It was pretty cool. Then, after that, we headed to Raifords (the new one) and we didn't stay that long. The crowd at Raifords...wow.
It was an extremely fun weekend, but I was so exhausted last night. I literally got home, unpacked, ate dinner and got ready for bed. I put on my PJs, brushed my teeth and got in bed where bill was watching tv. When I turned out the light, we both realized that it was still light outside and it was only 8 p.m. Yes, I could have gone to sleep right then, but I didn't. I made myself stay up until a little before 10 and then I was out. Woke up this morning at 8. haha. 10 hours of sleep with do you good.
While Bill was all by himself this weekend he totally remade our garage. Built shelves and a work bench and just totally cleaned it up. It is gorgeous!!!! I love it so much. Nothing touches the ground anymore except our grill. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was. He workid so hard. Can't wait to see what he does to the flower beds :).
All in all, it was another excellent memphis weekend. We will be right back in memphis again on Thursday. It's another wedding weekend! Yay for Sarah and Lee! Can't wait.
Love the Married Life...
What an amazingly beautiful weekend we had in Jackson. Since we have not been in town for the last 3 weekends, we were happy to finally spend some quality time at home together.
Friday night we went to eat at Ichiban (Thanks, Dad). If you have never eaten there, we will have to take you someday. Most amazing Chinese buffet ever! Crab Legs are giant and very tasty. Then, we just rented a movie..."Seven Pounds". Wow. That's all I am going to say. Wow. Very easy night of spending time together.
On Saturday...as usual, Bill woke up around 6:30 a.m. and went for a 3 hour bike ride (Yes...this is a normal thing for him...crazy boy). I woke up, as usual, about 2 hours later (Yes...I wake up everyday around 8:30 or 9...what else does an unemployed person do). :) After we got up and got ready, we headed out to a Fine Arts Festival at the Renaissance in Madison, MS. Fine Arts was definitely it...I found nothing there for under $250. Although we could afford absolutely nothing, we still had fun walking around on the beautiful sunny day looking at things we could not afford.
After that, we headed to two different Farmer's Markets. I feel so old saying that. We try to hit those up on the Saturdays that we are here, because they have amazing fruits and veggies!
We stopped by for some lunch in Ridgeland at a new place we found. It is called 'My Friend's Place Deli' and it is INCREDIBLE! Definitely a new favorite! We went to a few different stores and just walked around the outside shopping areas.
We were supposed to do yard work today and clean out the garage, but that definitely did not happen. It was too pretty for work. We finally came home and took a nap...a long long nap.
Watched "Night at the Museum" and ate some pizza for dinner. When I write this stuff down, it does sound a bit boring, but we had so much fun together today.
These are the days I truly do cherish with Bill.
Beach Trip and Vaughan's Wedding
I cannot believe Bill and I have been married for over 6 months! Time has flown by and we have enjoyed every second of it! I never imagined marriage to be this much fun! I feel like our lives have been non-stop since we got home from the honeymoon. It seems as though everyone we know is getting married.
Ryan (my brother) and Stephanie were married back on September 27, 2008 in Memphis, then Bill and I had our wedding on November 15, 2008 in Memphis. After that, Monica and Rob were married on February 21, 2009 in Memphis and then our friends Brooks and Cameron were married in West Point, MS on May 9. This past weekend Vaughan (Bill's sister) and Drew were married on May 23 in Pensacola, FL. We are now getting ready for Sarah and Lee's wedding in Memphis on June 21 and then we only have 2 more after that...so far. So, between the parties/showers/bachelor/bachelorette parities, we have been extremely busy.
However, we were able to take a little time for ourselves this past weekend in Florida at Vaughan and Drew's wedding. We had originally planned to leave on Thursday night after Bill got off work. However, when he came home on Wednesday to see that I was fully packed, he made one call to his boss and we left an hour later.
We arrived at Bill's parents condo in Pensacola at 11 p.m. Wednesday. That was definitely the best decision. We had all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday down there. We spent the night at the condo on Wednesday and then moved to a hotel in downtown Pensacola for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
Friday night was the rehearsal dinner. They cooked an entire pig and had tons of yummy fried food to go along with it. They also had a bluegrass band that was a lot of fun. On Saturday, I went to a brunch with Vaughan and her friends and then that night Drew and Vaughan were married. The reception was a sit down dinner at Scopelos. The weather was pretty bad the entire weekend, however, the rain held off for the wedding day and it was beautiful.
On Sunday, we went back to Bill's parent's condo and spent the night there. We were able to enjoy the absolutely beautiful day at the beach. Anne and Bob had their friends, the Quinns, stay with us and we enjoyed their company very much. We had a delicious dinner of Grouper topped with crab meat. It was amazing. Thank you Bob! We left to come home on Monday, but not without stopping in Foley for shopping! I am so proud of the fact that I walked away from that place without buying any clothes. However, Bill can't say the same. I think he ended up getting 5 polo shirts and three pair of shorts. haha. We also got a few other things for the house. I love outlet malls! We finally got home last night around 7:30 p.m.
It was a very long and much needed weekend at the beach!
