We would like to announce that Ch Bulpen's Devil in the Details is now officially a Grand Champion! Sadie completed her GCH by being SB both days at the All Breed Dog Show in West Friendship, MD on Oct 15 & 16. We are very proud of Sadie! We are especially grateful to our friends Rhona and Ole Hausken for their encouragement, support and assistance in accomplishing this goal!

GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION BEGINS....Starting May 12, 2010, concurrent with the implementation of the 2010-2011 AKC Point Schedule, judges will be able to award Grand Championship points. Competition for this new title will be judged concurrently with Best of Breed/Variety competition at all-breed, group and specialty shows. All Champions of Record entered in the Best of Breed/Variety competition will be eligible to compete for Grand Championship points. There is no additional entry fee.

A dog must be (1) a Champion of Record or (2) have been transferred to BOB competition based upon the owners’ records of their having completed the requirements for a CH title to be eligible for Grand Championship (GCH) competition.

The American Kennel Club requires a dog to obtain a total of 25 points with three major wins (a major win is worth three points or higher) to become a Grand Champion. The majors must be won under three different judges and at least one other judge must award some of the remaining points – so you need to win under at least four different judges. Also at least one Champion of Record must be defeated at three of these shows.

~Sadie was awarded BOS (Best of Opposite Sex) on Friday, March 26, 2010 under Judge Dr. Dale Schuur for her first 3pt ROM (Recognition of Merit). She now has 4 of her 10 needed ROM Points. She was expertly shown by our friend Ole Hausken of Royalbard Kennels and expertly groomed by his lovely wife, Rhona. In his critique, Dr. Schuur wrote, " Tri-color medium sized feminine bitch. Head has impressive sweeping profile and is well filled. Mouth good, a bit smaller eye would improve. Front is clean, needs a bit better shoulder. Topline is firm and quarters well angulated. Good bone and substance. She was pressed by the other special bitches and won this spot with her beautiful head and type."

~The critique by Judge Anita Bartel after she was awarded her first championship major...."chic, sleek, elegant tri; striking head features fancy profile, notable length/depth. Solid fill under dark wicked eye; tidy attentive ears. Graceful neck, deep chest, shapely underline, well-sprung rib, back could be shorter. Bone fits size. Steep shoulder affects topline but she stacks herself to best advantage and moves with conviction highlighting virtues and minimizing faults"....

Loved the pictures, especially of Phred in the car, he deserves his great life. Our Siren just turned 8 Friday, and the twins are doing fine.  Stormy is still a picture of her daddy Phred.
I wish she had his personality.
