Fall Carnival
Help!!!!! We need you! Please sign up to work a 30 minute spot at our class booth! If you have high school students in your family this is a great way for them to earn community service points for the bright futures scholarship. We also need donations of candy and items for the "gardening" basket. We will accept candy collected during "trick or treat" as long as it is clean and individually wrapped :)
Scholastic Book Clubs
The Scholastic Book Clubs online ordering is now available to parents and students in our class. You will find a link to this website on the "link" tab at the top of this homepage. Our class activation code is HJ7WV. This website also provides interesting activities and information to help your child develop a love for reading. If you have any questions about using this site, please contact one of your child's teachers. Have fun!
Scientists of the week are chosen!
Ashlyn Bludsworth and Kade Doyle have been chosen as our first two "scientists of the week"! We can't wait to see the experiments they are preparing for our class next Friday. Congratulations and have a lot of fun!
Homework
Homework begins this week in our classes. Students will be required to read every night for at least 20 minutes. Please record the number of pages read in their planner each evening and initial it. When a book is completed, your child should record it on the book log at the front of the student planner and fill out all of the required information. These logs will count toward helping your child reach the second grade goal of 200 books this year. We understand that in busy families every now and then homework does not get done. If this happens, just double up the next day. Student planners will be used as homework folders this year. Spelling words will be recorded each Monday and any math or other activities can be found in the planner pouch when required. More ideas and information will be found in the student planner pouch this week :)
New Teachers!
We would like to welcome Ms. Marjorie Perea and Ms. Lauren Degryse to our classroom family! Both are students at Jacksonville University currently working towards masters degrees in education. They will be working with our students full time for the next few months and then part time for the remainder of this year. We are very excited to have these talented teachers impacting our students!
Welcome Back!
We are so excited to start a new school year! We have been very busy getting our classrooms ready and planning exciting activities for all of our students. Supply lists were mailed to each of our families on Monday and can also be found on the Chaffee Trail Website and at orientation this Friday. We hope you enjoy this site and we look forward to the coming school year. See you soon!
