Gift for Mistress Cellach. wool embroidery on wool (it's called "limousine cloth" and it wears like iron... also hard as heck to embroider on.) Tablet woven purse straps in wool. Silk finger braided draw strings and tassels.

101114-late period craftsmans coat german.JPG
Made for Alexander the Glass Blower. Linen with silk edging. This was a commission.

101114-late period craftsmans coat german a.JPG
being worn. The front picture turned out blurry. I like everything about the fit except there is some wrinkling at the back of the armseye. On the next one I make for him I'm going to cut the armseye a little deeper and see if that helps. The sleeves were made looser so that he could push them up. Idea whas that he could wear this outfit while he was doing glass blowing demonstrations so it had to be made comfortable and wearable during working.

101114-coat collar closeup.JPG
close up of the collar area and inside. You can see some of the handwork. This was a commission, so I had to be sparing with the handwork, but I made sure I did enough to stablize the outfit and give it form. The assembly is a compromise between using the sewing machine to do a majority of the work, but also make it drape and look like extant ones and also have no visible machine stitching

101114-coat inside closeup.JPG
closeup of the inside of the waistline. I attached the skirt with a sewing machine (it would have been more accurate to handsew it on). Additionally, since the wearer works with molten glass, I used the thinnest materials I thought I could get away with without compromising the look. the entire piece with the exception of the sleeves are lined, but I skipped the interlining on the dublet/body part of the coat. I decided to flip the seam allowance of the skirt down, and I covered it with a strip of linen/cotton blend (the white fabric). This way the pleats of the skirt "stuck out" away from the body more, which was more in line with the outline of extant pictures.

101111-viking caftan.JPG
This caftan is a bit of a mix between two theorized styles. I talked with Mistress Thora about this and I decided to go with the client's (this was a commission) wants but to try and bring in as much of theorized construction as I could. This is a very popular style in kingdoms that have a lot of outdoor camping events in colder weather. Specifically for wearing at Estrella.

close up of the sleeve. The stitching on the seams are done by machine, but mimic extant seam embroidery that has been discovered. You can also see the inserted gore construction of the sleeve.

100808-houppeland.JPG
This was a gift for Master Julien deLapoint to thank him for making my Duchy coronet. This is a wool houppeland with bag sleeves. it combines elements from several coats shown on page 34 of "The hunting book of Gaston Phebus" (apprenticeship of the huntsman). This outfit would be worn with a belt usually and the many folds arranged around the body. I am hopeful someday to have a picture of this being worn.

100808-houppelandcloseupa.JPG
With the exception of the long seams, this entire outfit was handsewn. the collar and cuffs were padded with several layers of additional wool and I quilted them by long lines of running stitch. I cast the buttons from a mold that was given to me during my first reign. All the inside seam allowances were hand sewn down, The bottom edge of the sleeve was actually sewn with the seam allowance outside and then it was pinked. In the illumination one of the coats looks this way.

100808-houppelandcloseupb.JPG
The bottom of the coat and the lapels added to the top of the sleeves are dagged. As you can see, they are the raw edges, but because the wool has a slightly fulled surface they hold together without unravelling.

100101-toddlers dress.JPG
First time I ever made a childs dress. I made it so it could be let out, but I did not make the skirt wide enough. It fit for about a year and a half. I am going to take it back and see if I have any more of these fabrics to add gores in the side seams.

100919-viking apron strands.JPG
these were made for sale. commercially bought beads. I made the wire pendants with the beads on them.

100918-personal viking beads.JPG
i made this for my own kit. The beads have been collected over 10 years and some of them were handmade by various people and some are vintage and a few are even over 100 years old (a gift). The laurel medallion was a gift by Master Ali.

100918-vikingbead strands.JPG
more bead strands I made for sale. These ones are more "period" looking based on some extant finds like the Hon hoard. From studying extant finds, it seems that they more often grouped similar colors together than alternate them as per our more modern tastes. I also made the wire pendants with the beads on them.

wire pendants with beads on them. These were made for sale and actually sold quicker.
