Yeah Paul And Jaxon!!! Official APBT image maker!
8/15/2010 4:52:17 PM - 003022388200
To all at Buster's, just to let you know that Jaxon is doing great.
Also he is helping APBT's with their image.
When i first got him we would walk the neighbourhood, a woman a few house's from me stop in her car and rolled down her window and looked at me and said "Oh i had seen you had a new puppy, but thats a PITBULL!!, i said yes but they are very friendly she said she was terrified of them and then went through all the media hyped things about APBT's.
Now 6 months and 40LBs later we met in the street she was walking her dog.
We stopped and chatted, she told me she was very impressed that Jaxon is so calm, he watches her walk by the house and doesn't bark at them ever, all the time he just sat looking at her, then she said could she pet him, and of course i said yes she then moved towards him and he let her pet him and of course he licked her. So another person now understands the breed.
I always state "Blame the Deed not the Breed."
Thanks for all the hard work you are doing.
Hope to see you all soon.

Thank you for the wonderful work you all are doing for this beautiful, loving breed. I met a lady form your foundation today at Lane vet. She was very nice and just like me. I used to hate APBT's. The same as anyone who listens to the media and doesn't give the breed a chance. Now I will never own another breed. I own a 24 wk old brindle and white, heterochromic wonder, and a 10 yr old pit/whippet mix. the best dogs I've ever owned. Thank you again for your efforts in educating the public and finding these wonderful dogs a loving, responsible home. THEY DESERVE IT! -Gregory Chamberlain.

Hi Joanie and the rest of the gang at Buster. I love the new photo page!!! It just shows what all of us knew all along - that the bully breed has the sweetest and best looking dogs of all!!! Anyway, I can't begin to express my thankfulness for all of you. The love and joy that Holly has brought to my family and my home is absolutely priceless. I am thankful every day that there are special people like you. We love you all and Holly loves you too!!

It helps in once again promoting the idea of having a Bully breed, they get such a bad rap! Anyway, I love you all, especially my little boy- Mr. Colby!!! Shutterfly is an adorable idea, and YOU guys ROCK!!!

Photo of the Week: A busy week for the young and the old!

Buster Updates

A Busy and Fabulous Buster Week!

The past two weeks have been brimming with Adoption activity for Buster dogs old and young alike.  Two weeks ago we found forever homes for two of Lola's pups, Cookie and Dude, and as of this weekend we have the following pending adoptions:  Joker, Eden, Mack, Woody, and Pepper!! As if that wasn't enough, we've had some meet'n'greets for Coltrane (who seems to be Pepper's babysitter these days), Frankie, Harriet and Bunny!  Happy homes, happy dogs, and happy Buster volunteers all around!

Saddle 'em up and move 'em out

Mama Joanie is trying something new this week and boy does it seem to be working!  A few volunteers went over to rescue central and helped saddle up a few of the dogs with Outward Hound dog packs full of water bottles and strutted them up and down the street until they were about ready to drop.  Then, thanks to some genuine exhaustion on the dogs' part, we were able to introduce Lola to O'Neill and walk them up and down the street near one another in a fairly calm, quiet fashion.  And there was even some time for a dip in the stream after!  It's all about exercise and the energy burn for these muscular babies.

Smiley "Neo"

O'Neill, or Neo, our newest boy continues to dazzle all of us with his big, wide smile and his need to play.  His most recent discovery is the simple pleasure of chasing the hose water!  We hope this cool dude finds his forever home soon!

Pepper and Dude, and Amazing Foster Mama Jean!

Our Buster photo of the week is of two of Lola's puppies, Pepper (who still needs a permanent foster home!) and Dude, who were both incredibly ill and underweight when they first arrived with us.  Today they are happy, healthy and obviously photogenic as well, all thanks to their Foster Mom Extraordinaire, Jean.  In the past month, Jean has made multiple trips to the emergency vet, stayed up round the clock administering fluids and meds, and incorporated these two fuzzy goof balls into an already busy house and family (which includes multiple Buster alumni already!).

Thanks so much for everything Mama Jean!

We are still looking for permanent foster homes for Pepper, as well as Mama Lola and out little Blanca.  So if you're thinking about fostering or know someone who might want to, please let us know!

Emily G., bringing it home for Buster!

This week's featured photo is the engagement photo for one of our volunteers. The Buster Foundation has countless volunteers . . . unsung heroes who go above and beyond the call of duty every day for our four-legged friends.  This past month, our volunteer, Emily G. has logged some serious mileage for the Buster Foundation. After months of training, she ran the Vermont Marathon all in the name of pit bull rescue--even sporting the Buster logo on her race t-shirt, and ended up raising a whopping $1500 for our furry gang.  And she ran it in 3:58:15 to boot!  We're not even sure Lexie or Dalton could top that time.

As if she hadn't done enough for the summer, she then just this past week saved a stray dog who turned out to be a rescue from California gone missing and after welcoming the dog into her home and taking cover in her basement with the stray and her own dog, Bondi (shown in the photo) during the tornado warning last week, she raised yet another couple hundred dollars for Buster because the thankful out-of-state rescue wanted to show its appreciation.

Bravo, Emily!  You've outdone yourself this month for the bullies!

We have some new arrivals: Mama Lola and the Fuzzballs

The Buster Foundation just agreed to take on a mom and her newborn pups--4 girls and 1 boy-- recently rescued by a shelter and dog warden with a soft spot for the pitties.  Despite being pretty over quota on dogs these days, we knew how important it was to keep mama with her kids after our orphaned litter from last summer, so we took them all! They arrived last Thursday, but with 3 of the pups in pretty bad shape.  Jean, our amazing vet tech and foster mom took the three weak pups home with her for some TLC.  After a late night trip to the emergency clinic, the littlest of the girls was just too sick and the decision was made to let her go.  The two others, Pepper and Dude, are on the road to recovery and getting a little bit of puppy pep back each day.

Mama, now named Lola, is a beautiful blue brindle girl who is proving to be a model dog.  She sits,  comes when called, plays fetch, relaxes happily at your feet, rides well in the car, gives up toys when you ask her to, and loves to cuddle!  She loves her Kong Wubba toys more than anything in the world and is happiest just hanging out with them on the grass outside.

Her and her two healthiest puppies (healthy is an understatement, they're a couple of gluttonous fatties), Bunny and Cookie, are currently hanging out in the mommy isolation suite at Emily's house. We won't know for a few weeks how Lola's temperament is around other dogs since her mommy hormones are still raging while she's nursing and dog intros just aren't a good idea right now.  But as far as people go, she's a big love bug who is content as can be to just be with you. In fact, it's pretty hard to think of her as a mama considering she's just a big goofy puppy herself.

We are actively looking for foster homes to take on a pup or Lola once the pups have been fully weaned, so if you or anybody you know is interested, please let us know!

Congratulations, Mya and Thank you, Melissa!

Our lovely reddish-brown girl, Mya went to her new home today where she'll be living with a spunky Boxer brother named Buster.  We're extremely happy for Mya and her new family, and eternally grateful to our foster mom, Melissa who has spent countless hours caring for and training Mya since she came to us last fall.

Bravo, Melissa!

Hello, Blanca!

Buster's newest addition is little Blanca, coming in at somewhere around 3.5-4 months old we believe.  Tiny as she is, this puppy packs a big girl punch and intellect.  She has literally been climbing ladders, going down slides and diving for toys in the pool.  There are some pretty distinct Jack Russell qualities noticeable in her, but we'll have to let this girl grow to see what she's really about.

Right now, we are looking for the right foster home for her.  While she is wonderful with medium-large size adult dogs (and seems to be great with cats too), she is not the best playmate with little dogs and younger pups.  She's a bit of a firecracker (probably because of that big brain ;), and she needs a place where she doesn't have a smaller canine companion to beat up on.  She's great on leash and seems to be up for just about anything.

If you think you might be interested in fostering our little gal or know someone else who might, you can email us at info@busterdogs.com.

Welcome, Baby Blanca!

Bravo to Deniece, Buster's Super Star Volunteer!

This week's Photo of the Week has been changed to honor Lovely Vixen, our sexy white lady available for adoption.  Deniece, the ultimate Buster volunteer has taken her home for fostering and has shown just how far a little extra TLC can go for one of these awesome dogs.  Thanks to Deniece, Greg, Daisy, Grady, and Sly for welcoming little Vixie into their home!

Let's start collecting those photos!

A few of us recently decided that it was about time we started pooling together all of our fantastic photos of our beloved Buster dogs.  I know that I alone probably have somewhere around 500+ photos that I should stop hoarding on my own computer!

So we're hoping that everyone will enjoy having a place to share some of the great photos they've taken in the past and will be taking in the future.  Please feel free to share this site with as many friend and family as you can!
