Their Story
Curly (the grey) was "my" official first bird ever. I got her at 2 months old from my moms friend who had babies accidentally. She was spent so much time with as a baby and to this day is the sweetest girl. Her mate BJ (pied) we got at 8 months old from a petshop. He was insanely wild. While we were in the store, when the lady opened his cage he flew out and attacked my ear..ahh! But we took him home regardless. Hes still a bit skittish, but not nearly as bad as he used to be. I can cup him and give him kisses with no problem. He is extremely bonded to Curly. Where she goes, he goes. Curly is about 16 years old now, hes about 14 years old. Their son is also pictured. He was the last baby they ever had and went to my mother in law. Thats Demo :)

Her Story
My dad was cleaning his pool outside in the middle of summer when he swore he heard a cockatiel. After searching sure enough, there she was in his tree! He walked over to her, put his hand out, and she immediately came to him. Poor thing was dying of thirst and hungry. Shes incredibly tame and sweet. Missing many toes which makes it hard for her to balance at times, blind in her left eye and we believe shes a bit mentally slow. We never did find the owners (which surprised me with how sweet she was) and im not sure what her age is. My dad gave her to me about 6 years ago.

His Story
Jaden was my first "big bird" that I was allowed to have after months of begging. I put an add on Craigslist saying I was looking for a Goffins and was emailed from a breeder saying he had 3. We went down, Jaden was the oldest and the goofiest. The breeder said he was the bully of the 3 and i think he just had so much more personality than the other 2 (probably because they were so young) so i brought him home. He was 6 months old at the time. He was said to be weaned, but when he came home refused to eat. I was told not to handfeed him because it would be hard to get him off it, but after day 3 of not eating, i had to practically force it down his throat..then he ate. Im not sure if he really was forced weaned, or if at the breeders house he was much more confident and refused handfeedings. I know birds tend to backtrack in new enviroments, and i wish i had known that then. Jaden has always been a very whiney bird..it finally stopped at 2 1/2. Alot of adjustments were made to make him and us happy, but now i think we finally understand each other. Hes destructive, loud, stubborn, demanding, needy, expensive, sensitive, a cuddle bug, SUCH a sweetheart (shall i say more? lol) but hes practically my kid. I adore this darn bird. He turned 4 in January.
Jaden was stolen 6/1/09. On the 2nd he was sold at a park, and on the 4th returned to me. He was completely traumatized and began plucking. When we moved into a new home, he was much happier. But now the plucking/barbering is a habit he cant seem to break

Her Story
I was at a local birdstore looking through the glass at all the "smaller" birds (everyone else always crouds around the big bird section). Im usually not aloud to look (and theres a reason! lol). All the birds were playing with toys, busily chewing things. Then i noticed the blue bird. Just sitting there, all alone, Didnt want to play, didnt want to move, just sat and looked at me. She was the saddest looking bird ive ever seen. I didnt even know what kind of bird she was, I had to call them when I got home because i couldnt stop thinking about her. Ended up she was a Indian Ringneck Parakeet. The girl told me that "he" was there a month, that someone had dropped "him" off in front of the store in a box. I felt so bad :( So after MUCH begging Eric came down with me to get her. Another lady said it wasnt a he, but a SHE. And that she was insanely wild and crazy. She was their known "escape artist". Everytime they would come into the store in the morning she would happily be sitting on whatever cage she was put in that night lol. I cant tell the lady was trying to scare me away..but it didnt stop me.
She was terribly scared of me, and had an AWFUL wing clip. Everytime i would even so much as WALK by her cage she would thrash around and make herself bleed. It was so sad to watch and feel so helpless over. It took her 10 months to take a treat from me..and 11 months before i could give her kisses, nuzzle her against my face, and rub her little head :) I still cant hold her, but once in a while she will hop up on my arm. I dont think she ever was tame..i believe she was a breeder or an aviary bird. But weve definately come a long way. Her age is unknown
Bailey was stolen 6/1/09 from my home while I was at work. She has yet to make it home and is dearly missed :(

His Story
Ive been searching around for a Quaker for a long time and had no luck what so ever. I walked into a birdstore and happened to see they had them finally. But, unfortunately they didnt have smaller cages, only huge parrot ones. So I went over to the petstore i got Bailey from, and sure enough, not only did they have the cages, but they ALSO recieved Quakers (wouldnt surprise me if they were the same breeder). They were also 50 bucks cheaper. They had 2. One was crazy and wild. Oh man did this bird have spunk. He was running all up and down my arms, screaming to the world. What a proud little soul lol. Then there was the other one. He ran up to my hand and was continuously bobbing his head looking for comfort feedings. What a sweet little thing! First thing i noticed about the 2nd one was his beak was a little crooked. The lady told me that he was the sweetest one in there. He wasnt the youngest, but he still wanted handfeedings. He was always the first to run to everyone, but was immediately put back down because of his beak :( The 2nd one, was my Mika. I swore i wouldnt get another bird that wasnt weaned...but i really felt for this little guy. And i knew the first bird would have NO problem being sold with his personality. (The vet confirmed later that Mika either was born with a beak deformality or he injured it very young as a baby. Either way, once in a while he needs it trimmed down. But ive only had it trimmed ONCE since ive had him...since then he seemed to learn to do it on his own. Everytime it starts getting long, ill come back to find its back to perfect shape!)
I continued with handfeedings for another week until he refused them anymore. At 4 months he started talking..and once he came out of his shell he became SUCH an outgoing bird. At first i thought he was a girl, so we named him Mika after my friends Quaker. When we finally found out it was a boy, he was already saying "mika mika mika!" so we decided to keep the name. This bird is so happy with life. Nothing slows him down. Out of all my birds this one is Erics favorite. He says Mika is the "perfect bird". He dances, he sings, he talks, he loves cuddles..but only when hes in the mood!..and he LOVES showing off to ppl. My spunky little boy :)
Mika was also stolen from my home 6/1/09. On September 18th someone found him. He had flown into a 3rd story balcony and was almost a cats dinner :( September 25th 2009 my boy was reunited to me. He came back much more aggressive to other people. Hes a mommas boy, and is now a one person bird. Im not sure if it was because he matured as a quaker, was stolen, or both. He came back saying many things i never taught him..including "youre a bad boy, you better stop it" :( It was very sad. Hes becoming his old self with me, but Eric still cannot touch him.

Their Story
Stormy (violet) - I had wanted a lovebird for some time as my last addition to my flock. When Eric found out how tiny they were he gave me the okay and said "we might as well get all your birds done with" lol. So I found a breeder and went over her house to get him. At first she had advertised 6, but i had a choice from 12! They were all sweet, but extremely skittish. So i stuck my hand in the cage, grabbed one, and came out with Stormy! He was very very skittish. I had him in my room away from everyone is hopes to tame him, but it didnt seem to work. He would constantly call for other birds, run into the birdroom when i wasnt looking, and continued to look at me like the evil lady keeping him away from everyone. One day Erics grandmother brought over a parakeet that i was giving to my brother. Stormy flew over sooo excited wanting to snuggle and play. Unfortunately this parakeet didnt want it! When my brother came to pick her up, i swear if a bird could sulk, Stormy was sulking. I had given him false hope of a friend his size (all my other birds are bigger). So, i decided to get him a friend.
Lizzy (normal peach faced) - My ultimate plan was to find a lovie that was actually "tame". Altho Stormy was hand raised, he wasnt spent much time with since there were so many of them. I found another breeder, and began emailing him for about a week. He claimed he had 3 babies left (one had flown away :( ) but that his were not skittish and very sweet. Him and his kids spent alot of time with them. I told him i didnt want to take the chance of getting 2 females being that they could be aggressive (i wasnt sure at this point if Stormy was a male or female). So i brought Stormy over, and the breeder checked his "hip spacing" and said he was pretty sure Stormy was a boy. Now my choice was between a male and a female. Id always heard female horror stories but decided to go with the female.
Lizzy took a few days to get used to me, but she wasnt at all scared of me. After a few days she was constantly flying to my head or hanging out on my shoulder. Shes completely fearless of anything/any bird. Stormy was in love. He followed her like a puppy dog. I had to seperate them in the beggining for a bit because Stormy was so overwelming to her. She began to get annoyed and would constantly attack him, but once she got used to him, and Stormy learned to respect her space they were okay. Lizzy is more of a "people" bird. And the best part is that where she goes, he goes. So whenever she would come over to me, hed be right behind her! I think she was the best thing that ever happened to him. Now hes not afraid to come to me alone anymore. I will say shes a very strong bird. Shes the first bird ive ever had that is "cage aggressive" but only very mild. Ive learned to read her body language and respect her space, but i love her to death. She doesnt take crap from anyone, and isnt afraid to show it!
They were both estimated to be born November of 2008

Her Story
I previously had owned Laceys uncle, but he had died getting hit by a car. He was a pug, cockerspaniel, and lhaso apso mix. We were all devasted :( Years later, my moms friend (who had his brother) said that she was having puppies. It was his brother, with her west highland terrier. Being that it was his neices/nephews i wanted one really bad. She of course said yes! So i went to choose one, they all looked the same except for colors. 3 whites, 1 black, and 1 brendal. The brendal one was already claimed, and the black one was a boy ( I had wanted a female) so i chose one of the white ones at random. Ironically when i had come back to get her, she looked nothing like the other white ones. She almost looked like a pitbull puppy. After growing up, she ended up looking JUST like her uncle except whiter. What were the chances id pick THAT puppy? None of her siblings look like her.
She was a HORRIBLE puppy, i cant even describe. She was stubborn, sneaky, spiteful, and it seemed that i could get nothing into her head. Many times i almost gave up, but im very glad i stuck with her. It seemed once she hit 2 years old she "snapped" out of it and became a wonderful dog. Shes ever so sweet, extremely smart, still sneaky..but cant win in all cases lol. She really is the perfect dog. Lacey will be 6 years old April 25th

His Story
After Mika was stolen, Eric had given up hope that wed ever see him again. Thinking it might cheer me up he bought me this beautiful blue baby and had him shipped from Ohio. But instead of helping, it had made it worse. I knew it wouldnt be Mika, but for some reason it made it much harder for me. Everytime he would come out of his sleepy hut, i was waiting to see Mika.
As time went on, i was able to see him as "Cloud" and not a replacement of Mika (which he never was supposed to be). Hes such a sweet sweet bird. And super smart. He picked up words at 3-4 months old and is still learning!
FIREMAN! lol

Her (?) Story
Riley was a Petsmart bird. She was bought, and returned a few days later. She had chewed off her tail and her wing. My friend took her in, and did awesome work with her. She wasnt afraid of people like she used to be, and became a confident, happy little bird. Unfortunately her son has very bad reactions to bird dander, so she asked me if i could take her. I was truly done with my flock! But being that she was so small and Eric was okay with it, we took her in. I dont know how my flock was ever complete without a conure. She is so much fun. She loves water, and love to play with her toys, namely bells. Shes turned into a real mommas bird..i love her to death!

I read about the theft of your fids on my forum in upstate NY. Word has spread all over the country. Many kind hearts and keen eyes will be looking for your babies. Keep looking... I pray they are all returned safe to you soon. Mary Ann W.

Oh poor Janifer, Words cannot express how heartbroken I am for you. I read about the theft on The Perch. I'm so miserable. I hope you spread the word around big time and get your babies back!!!
