about your fishing guide

I am a lifelong resident of Citrus County and have spent a large majority of that time on the many different lake's , river's and coastal Gulf of Mexico. While growing up as a child my true passions consisted of a dedication for the martial art's. I achieved the rank of first degree black belt by the time I was 14 years old and continued my training until my early 20's. I started my first business at the age of 23 where I developed some of the latest and most widely used texturing techniques in the state.I have always been the type of person to constantly challenge myself .Fishing has always been a part of my life and in the last decade it has become one of my greatest passions. I have always had a thirst for knowledge and I am an exceptional teacher whether it be fishing ,taekwon -do or the stucco and plastering trade. I will take my passion and dedication and personally give you an experience on the water where you will walk away not only with the fish you come to catch but the satisfaction of knowing you have become a better angler.

Seasonal Fishing Information

December & January

Winter fishing here in Florida can be pleasant or down right chilly,so most of are fishing is done in the several spring fed rivers and creeks. This is mainly a mixed bag so it is possible to catch a wide variety of fish, redfish, trout, and snook can all be caught in the rivers. Ladyfish and jack crevally also inhabit the river and can be a lot of fun for for the novice fly fisherman. There are resident tarpon in these rivers and you can target these fish with live or cut bait all winter long.

February

This is probably the best time of the year for trout on fly, February is closed season for trout so it is catch and release only but that should be no problem for any serious fly guy. Sight casting to redfish in the back country is really good also. The inshore rock piles are loaded with sheepshead and they can be a lot of fun on light tackle.

March & April

March winds can be fierce but the fishing can be great on those days when the wind lays down.  Spanish mackerel start showing up in large schools and they can be very entertaining on fly. This is also a great time of the year for sight casting to redfish and trout or one of my favorites big cobia. Shallow water grouper fishing is always good in the spring. Tarpon will be here when the gulf reaches 75 degrees so keep your eye's open.

May & June

Tarpon time, every thing else takes a back seat when the silver king shows up! these fish are hungry and will readily take a fly or plug depending on your preference. Citrus County holds some of the largest and smartest tarpon in the world, so I suggest you bring your  A  game. All other game fish are available at this time, redfish, trout, cobia, snook, grouper and many others if you are not quite up to battling a tarpon.

July and August

This is the hottest time of the year but the fishing can be even hotter! Every thing that has a tail is out in full force this time of year. The night air can be much more pleasant and the fish are more active in the cooler parts of the day so I either fish early or late depending on the tide. All of your favorite game fish will be in there favorite haunts, ready to attack a your plug or fly.

September,October and November

Large redfish are all over the flats this time of the year and they are hungry! These redfish will slam a top water plug or well presented fly. When fishing for these large fish if you are not a lure fisherman than a large chunk of cut mullet will catch a redfish every time. Shallow water grouper and cobia fishing gets very productive in the fall months, large pinfish or or cut mullet will turn them on and be prepared for a fight these grouper and cobia can be hard to handle.
