3-28-10 Threat of rain wasn't enough to dampen the team's spirits this past weekend as we played our first tournament of the season. Even though we only won 1 out of the 4 games, the boys battled hard through each game. On Saturday Lightning won its first game against the Upstate Pride 10-2, then lost to the Carolina Sabercats 3-8, an 11U AAA team. Rain on Sunday brought the first game against the Carolina Rattlers to a halt, but later resumed and ended in a loss of 2-6. Weather held out for the final game against the Worth Warriors, but that game ended with another disappointing loss of 3-9.
10-18-09 Carolina Lightning got an early taste of winter as chilling rain on Saturday and cold, windy conditions on Sunday made for tough playing conditions at the U.S.S.S.A. Fall Upper State Championships in Easley, hosted by Gameday Sports. Among those present were Jr. Diamond Prospects scout Craig Shipman who recapped the Lightning v. Phillies game on the Jr. Diamond Prospects web site (www.jrdiamondprospects.com). Carolina Lightning won the nail-biter which sent us to the championship game and ended up finishing second in the tournament, also beating out the Sliders. 10-12-09 Lightning Strikes Twice! Carolina Lightning placed second in the Fall Frenzy tournament in Greenville, SC this weekend. This is the second time this season CL has achieved this level of victory.
8-23-09 Congratulations to Carolina Lightning for making it to the championship game (see team photo above) at the Tyger River Classic in Spartanburg, SC. Second place ain't too shabby!
8-22-09 Carolina Lightning looked mighty fine this weekend as they took the field in their new uniforms, thanks to many sponsors who made contributions to our fund-raising efforts. We will be adding a Sponsor page soon so that all our fans can patronize the various businesses and thank them for supporting our team.
