Lucy, our sweet little beagle

Lucy Payne, our beloved little beagle, died Saturday, March 14, 2009. She was 5, just three days shy of her sixth birthday.

An Irish Wake is set from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday by the Butterfly Garden (where she spent much time hanging out) at the House of Payne in Denton. Please call 972-814-8112 to RSVP.

A rescue dog, Lucy came to Gary and Julie as a wee pup and enjoyed a full life, chasing after June bugs and May flies, barking at other dogs and hanging out around the house and yard. She performed all manner of tricks for treats and couldn't resist begging for the occasional french fry.

She is survived by her parents, Gary and Julie Payne of Denton; grandparents Gary and Martha Payne who had a huge fabulous yard where she could climb trees in San Antonio; cousin Pup, whom she ran circles around in San Antonio; Uncle Bob, whose pool she dared not go into in Irving; her grandmother Margie Allen of San Antonio; and numerous non-furry cousins who she loved playing with at holidays. She was preceded in death by the stuffed rabbit Smitty from Target; several stuffed squirrels from PetSmart; and a blue blanket she obliterated in Denton.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers you remember the crazy shit our dog did when you saw her last.

Hello 2009

Well it's a new year and Julie and I are doing well. Hope those of you who got our Christmas letter didn't freak out too much. We will be adding pictures dealing with the Adventures of Lucy and from the activities we have been up to with our home and travels.

UNT's Sunday Fun Day - Aug. 17, 2008

Gary and I  at UNT's Sunday Fun Day this year. We helped students moving into College Inn fill out work orders. It was a fairly easy gig, especially since the residence hall is mostly upperclassmen so they tend to not move in until later in the week.

Last year, we helped serve sandwiches, chips and drinks. It was fun and went fast - but it was super hot!!!

Here we are after having gone to the UNT Bookstore to load up on UNT gear. Hey, it also was tax free weekend.

Karen's Baby Shower - Aug. 9, 2008

My Mom and I hosted a baby shower for one of my best friends, Karen -- Karen and I have been friends since second grade.

The shower was at my home in Denton and included several of her friends from work and church. I think we all were excited about her pond theme and got a little carried away on the cute little froggies!

My battle with Stuart Little

DISCLAIMER: This post contains images that are artist renderings and not to scale or at all accurate and I have no idea who that kid is. Plus Julie wants to edit the grammar.

I recently discovered that a mouse was in my yard who had taken up residence under my shed. The little buggar was given the name "Stuart Little".

I was instructed to liquidate the mouse problem by my wife the "Commissar".

So i got my assassin neighbor and his 45 caliber pistol and we hunted this bastard down.

We cornered "Stuart Little" and we shot him with the 45. (No game permit required but you do need a concealed handgun permit) all the neighbors were like WTF. I went and got a stick like a 2 X 2 that had a dull pointy end.

I stuck it inside the hidey hole to pull out what i thought would be a mangled carcass instead out "stuart" came running past me and toward my assassin neighbor. "stuart" tried climbing on my neighbor buy getting on his foot.

Luckily we didnt have an evolution moment were he shoots his foot off, falling backwards shooting me.

Instead he kind of knudged "stuart" towards me and i jabbed mickey's cousin with my spear which killed him instantly jean claude van dam style.

"Stuart" now resides in a wal-mart bag in the trash bin outside.

God rest his soul.

Tearing up my yard (again).

Okay, so this spring my parents came into town and my wife was on vacation for two weeks, so it was decided to update the backyard from my already bad ass garden and flowerbed by the shed to an okay design of a raised bed and two butterfly gardens. It took one day to dig up my beautiful backyard and another few days to plant. Red did a good job, and well, it does look 10 times better than my hillbilly design. Pictures can be seen in the Home Improvements section. So go there NOW!

LUCY and her bandanna

Lucy recently was assaulted by a child with a bandanna to put on the dog. Picture of Lucy with said bandanna and wife at 2008 Dog Days of Denton on May 31, 2008.
