Part of the Family for 2 Years!
April 10, 2010 marks the second anniversary of Zackary's placement in our Family. What a joy he is in our lives. He keeps us hopping and sometimes running. He is so fun and makes us smile. We love him so much and love his birth mother Aja. We're feel so privileged to be able to be his parents.

Quick updates
Chelsea and I have been pretty busy the last few weeks. Zackary has moved out of the crib into his "big boy bed" and learning to go potty. Madelynn is doing really well. I have posted a video of her smiling on you tube. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_T70nvPpco

It's A Girl!
We just got back from meeting with our new baby girl and her birth mother Sharee. The meeting went really well. We love the birth mother and of course the baby is beautiful!
Zack turns 2!
Zack was so cute at his birthday party. We had a Sesame Street theme since lately he's been saying "I want Elmo" all of the time. We had an Elmo cake and Cookie Monster cupcakes. We played pin the cookie on cookie monster, shot of air rockets, and had a treasure hunt. When we were shooting off rockets, Zack kept taking the his cousins' rockets of the launcher and trying to put his on. The best was opening presents. He got a long wand bubble blower that looks like a sword. He jumped up and swung it around saying something in Zack language. Chrissom and I bought him a cozy coupe (one of those yellow, foot powered cars). I wrapped the top of it and Zack didn't bother unwrapping it all of the way. He pulled open the paper in the back and dived right into the car. All you could see were his little feet sticking out of the still wrapped car. His cousins and friends ripped off the rest of the wrapping paper for him. He was attached to the car the rest of the night. We had to drive it to the bathroom to take a bath and then to the bedroom to get pj's on. What a kid. We'll try to get some pictures and video up in the next couple of days.
I wouldn't Change a Thing
I posted some pictures of Zack standing in the daisies in our yard. He was helping us weed and trim the roses. The other two pictures are of us in the mountains having a picnic.
Chelsea wrote last week about Zack's adventures of pouring oil on the carpet. This week I'll tell you about Zack pouring bubble bath on the carpet. Chelsea called me at work where I was not having a very good day and told me about Zack dumping the bottle of Mr. Bubble on the carpet in the bedroom. I wanted to say "What do you want me to do about it? I'm at work". I knew that wouldn't have helped anything so I told Chelsea that it must be hard for her to try and keep up with Zack all the time and what a good mother she was and how lucky that we were to have her. Well maybe I didn't say that all of the stuff on the phone to her but I am saying it to her now.
I can tell you that olive oil is easier to clean up than bubble bath. At least I think so. I wouldn't know for sure because Chelsea cleaned up both messes.
The thing is I know we wouldn't trade our quiet no mess lives before Zack to our mess filled lives that we have with Zack. Just look at the pictures and you can see how much love and happiness that Zack brings into our home.

Snaggle Tooth
Sunday evening, Chrissom said, "What a weekend!" And it was. Saturday morning, I was giving the guys haircuts. During Chrissom's cut, Zack climbed up on the bathroom counter to investigate the clippers. He fell off the counter of course. While giving Zack a haircut, he decided to use his sign language, he fervently signed "all done!" Even though I wasn't done cutting his hair. We think he might of chipped his teeth while slipping around in the shower after his haircut. We didn't notice it until later. After haircuts, Chrissom and I were looking at hardwood flooring in the computer and dreaming of putting it in our living room and hallway when Zack came in with Chrissom's shaver and oil all over his hands. I immediately took him by the hand and asked him to show me where it was. He had poured 1/2 a bottle of Olive Oil in the living room. I said, "Now we have to get hardwood." After cleaning it up, Chrissom was cuddling Zack before nap time when he noticed the chipped teeth. We weren't sure if we should worry or not so we found a dentist open on Saturday. A forty minute drive and $60 later, the dentist peeked in his mouth for a total of 15 seconds and pronounced him fine. Zack thought it was all fun. We were a little disgruntled over the price. We need a dentist in the family to tell us not to over react next time. I think the weekend wore Chrissom out, but it just seemed like a normal day or two to me. Speaking of normal, i hear Zack getting into things in the kitchen, so I better go.

With us 1 year!
Today is a very special day for us. It marks the one year anniversary of Zack's placement in our family. It has been such a wonderful year. Our hearts are full as we think of Zack's birth mother Aja and her sacrifice of love. I thought I would put a few pictures of Zack being Zack today. It's a beautiful day outside and Zackary would live out there if I let him. He is getting so good at jumping on the trampoline and it is one of his favorite things to do. He climbs up and down by himself and as you can see from the pictures, he gets a lot of air. I also put pictures of his other favorite activity...the sandbox. Grandpa made the sandbox for him just this week and he loves it. He hasn't tried to dig in my plants all week! He has about 4 plastic forks (baby forks) that he's taken out of the silverware drawer out there. He's always carrying those around. I also got him a kid sized rake and shovel that he likes to use in the sandbox also. What a kid!
So Much for Nap Time
Zack learned a new trick today. He finally figured out how to climb out of his crib. Just when we were able to put him to bed with out holding him he figures out that he can get out and doesn't have to go to sleep. We lowered the mattress and Zack can still get out. What do we do now?

Grandpa Tends Zack
Today Grandpa came to our house to tend Zack. Chelsea left him a series of notes on how to take care of Zack. Things like when and what he eats for lunch, when he takes naps, and where the diapers and wipes are. She was trying to make things a little easier for Grandpa.
When we came home Zack was sitting on Grandpa's lap reading books. He smiled at us but made no move to leave Grandpa's lap. Zack had a fun time with Grandpa. How could you not when Grandpa spoils you with wagon rides and mini M&Ms.
On the back of Chelsea’s list Grandpa left a log of the day he spent with Zack. Here it is:
8:45 AM - Changed poopy diaper.
10:05 AM – Rocked to sleep.
10:20 AM – Put in bed.
10:25 AM – Heard him playing.
10:45 AM – Patio guys came.
10:45 AM – Zack awake,
11 – 12:15 PM – Watched patio guys. Cranky.
12:30 PM – Rocked to sleep.
3:30 PM – Wake up.
4:45 PM – Fed Banana and pear with milk. Some graham crackers.

Chrissom and I are looking forward to our sealing to Zackary on October 17, 2008. This date holds special meaning to us since 13 years ago on October 17, 1995, Chrissom and I were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple. Things have worked out perfectly to let us share that special day with Zackary.
Zack has been so cute lately. He's running around like crazy. He is so social, when we pass people he will raise his hand and call out "hello." He always expects them to acknowledge him. He's been playing with the dogs and has to say good morning to them when he wakes up. They usually lick his face until he pushes them away. His vocabulary is improving, he says, "ma, ma,"
"da, da," "ball," "more, more more," and "all done." Of course you have to understand toddlerease to know what he's saying. He copies what you say and the other night it sounded like he was trying to say "grandma, grandpa."
Zack loves his cousins. He gets really excited to see Wade and Wyatt (who live next door). He could spend all day outside. Sometimes in the morning, I'll get up and open the door for the dogs. I'll forget that it's open and get Zack up. Pretty soon it will be really quiet and I'll find that he's half way across the backyard heading for Wyatt's house in his jammies.
Newest Albums
I have uploaded a few new albums. The first is of Zack at the park a few days ago. He loves the slide. He also likes to eat the wood chips that are around the slide.
The second album is of the first annual family golf tournament held on, July 24th. Dad, Mom, Amy, Eric and I played 9 holes. It only took us four hours. Dad used his clubs that are like 100 years old and is yellow golf glove that is at least as old as I am. It is still undetermined who the winner was because we stopped keeping score. If you ask Dad I'm sure that he will tell you that Mom won. We had a lot of fun.
The last album is some pictures of Zack in the tub and Zack getting his first hair cut. Zack loves to take a bath. He will come from wherever he is in the house when he hears the water running in the tub.
Zeke
Zeke is Zack's newest cousin. Zeke was born on August 25th 2009. He weighed I don't know how many pounds and he was some odd inches long. If you really want to know you can ask Chelsea. The important thing is that he is healthy and his older brothers are glad that he is here.
Zack is lucky to live next door to his cousins Wade, Wyatt, and Zeke.
Camping
We went camping Labor Day weekend and Zack had a great time. He loved swimming in the lake, hiking, eating dirt, and soaking up some attention from his cousins.
