"The Consulate General of Mexico, in collaboration with the Institute for Mexican Abroad (IME) granted the IME-BECAS (Scholarships)
“Today, The Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, in an effort to raise the education and training level of the Mexicans living abroad and in order to help them to better integrate into the labor market, granted scholarships in the amount of $17,850, allocated by the Government of Mexico through the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME), as part of the IME Higher Education Scholarship Program.
This program also seeks to support and strengthen institutions and organizations offering educational programs for Mexicans in the United States seeking to serve a larger number of students.
The educational institutions benefited with the IME-Becas this year are Mission Language and Vocational School in San Francisco and Mendocino-Lake Community College in Mendocino, California.
In a ceremony celebrated on June 30th at the premises of Mission Language and Vocation School, and in the presence of representatives of institutions and organizations that have received IME Scholarships in the past, the Consul General of Mexico Carlos Felix (Corona) presented a check in the amount of $7,850 to Mendocino-Lake Community College and a check in the amount of $10,000 to Mission Language and Vocational School.
Consul General Carlos Felix noted that these scholarships reiterate the commitment of the Government of Mexico with Mexican youth in the United States.
Furthermore, representative of the beneficiary institutions expressed their appreciation and mentioned they will grant scholarships to low-income Mexican students who have excelled in their performance and effort in the academic field.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in which attendees had the opportunity to exchange views about the scholarships that every year the Government of Mexico grants to support Mexican students in the United States.”
