Morning began with an earth tremor....

before campuses united to marched on Sacramento.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event behind the scenes coordinating our community to have our voices heard on the importance of education for all.

Dr. David Dore, Dean of the Downtown Campus not only greeted and assisted boarding of the buses, he rode and marched with us. On the return trip Dean Dore welcomed the marchers as we decended the bus back at the Downtown Campus. You might not have recognized him as he was not wearing a suit.

Rudy Padilla, Business Coordinator for the Downtown Campus, once again contributed above and beyond. Countless hours of collaborating with students, staff, faculty and administrators is an inspiring example of dedication and leadership.

Thank you to Leslie Smith, Vice Chancellor of Government Affairs and Judy Seto who worked tireless for the success of transportation and all the behind the scenes that make this event possible.

To AFT 2121, Associated Student Councils and all those who donated to the cost of the trip. The Culinary Department for supplying us with lunches.

Morning began with an earth tremor...

The March In March to Sacramento was an exhilarating experience. I am overwhelmed with the enormous contributions by A!! those who made this possible; united to protest the budget cuts that threaten to erode the future of our education.

Dr. Don Griffin, Chancellor for his leadership continuing to find ways to protect our educational community. Gohar Momjian for her inspiring ability of always being supportive to all those who cross her path.

Dr. David Doré, Dean Downtown Campus and School of Business not only greeted and assisted boarding of the buses; he rode and marched with us. Michele Uzeta for her behind the scenes continuous support to all.

Samuel Santos, Dean of Student Services, whos support and dedication behind the scenes continues to unite our community. Laren Castro's encouragement and hard work makes all things possible.

Leslie Smith, Vice Chancellor of Government Affairs, determination and dedication kept the wheels turning. Judy Seto, as far as I am concerned walks on water, worked tirelessly for the success of our freedom to march.

Missing the bus did not stop her...

I missed the bus to the march this morning, yet I was not deterred when I saw it driving away. I was determined to show my support, so I hopped on the next Richmond BART, rode it to the end of the line, then transferred over to the Amtrak station, where I waited in the foggy cold for 30 minutes for train #526 to take me to Sacramento. Once it arrived, I boarded, and an hour and a half later, I disembarked. My journey was not over. I still had to walk nearly a mile to get to the steps of the state capitol, where the demonstration was being held. On my way, I came across other supporters who were finding their way there. We walked over together, and separated to find our friends among the dizzying sea of students, teachers, educators, faculty and education advocates, activists, petitioners and canvassers.

Why did I go through all of this? Why did I want to be there? I am a current student at CCSF,

and I find that I am lucky to be enrolled in a free certificate program at CCSF. I am grateful

I strongly believe that free quality education should be accessible to those who are willing and committed to learn. I believe that a well informed and prepared populace makes for a better world for all of us to live in. I believe that free quality education should not be a privilege, but a basic human right to provide tools and direction for us to be in control of our own destiny. I hope that my presence today would be counted among the bodies that stand up for this right. It's the least that I can do.
