Items Used to Manufacture Methamphetamine

Items to watch for:

Cold and sinus medication containing pseudoephedrine
Camping fuel
Starting fluid (ether)
Gas additive (methanol)
Drain cleaner (lye)
Matches
Iodine (liquid/crystals)
Hydrogen peroxide
Muriatic acid
Aluminum foil
Lithium batteries
Instant cold pack / fertilizer
Rock salt
PH strips
Coffee Filters
Plastic tubing

Notice that most of these items are common household items and are purchased by customers on a routine basis for the intended purpose.

However some individuals have a different use for these items. Their intent is to manufacture methamphetamine (meth). A sign of possible illegal activity is individuals either attempting to purchase large quantities of these items or multiple individuals attempting to make frequent purchases within a short time period (Smurfing).
