Thank you!
Ms. Nona and I would like to thank all of you for the hugs, treats, and gifts this week. We felt so special. Breakfast was great. The flowers are beautiful. The children worked so hard on the cards they made. Thank you not only for this week, but for all that you do on a daily basis to support us in working with your children.
Weekly Behavior Reports
Due to my illness this week, I will need a little more time to complete the weekly behavior reports. Reports will go home on Monday in order for Ms. Nona and I to have time to discuss how the week unfolded. Thanks for your understanding! Have a great weekend!
SQA's
SQA's will be sent home in the Friday folder this week. They will take the place of weekly behavior reports. Please sign and return the Parent Signature Page ONLY on Monday, April 16, 2012. Have a safe and happy Track Out! See you all on April the 16th.
MARK THE DATE
Friday, May4, is an early release day for kindergarten students ONLY. Students will be dismissed at 11:45 on this day in order for next year's class to stop by that afternoon for a visit. We will not be eating lunch at school on this day. Please note that there will be NO afterschool care provided for kindergarteners on this day. Thank you for helping us make this a special afternoon for our uprising kindergarteners!
Ooopps!
Parents, I am so sorry that I forgot to post the newsletter on Friday and it turns out that I didn't save it to my computer at school or at home! Please look in your child's folder today for a hard copy. Sorry about the inconvience! Have a great afternoon.
Happy 100th Day of School
WE DID IT! Our class will be celebrating the 100th day of school with a special snack, stories, and games on Friday.
See You Soon!
Hope you are all enjoying the last few days of your break! I have just added some photos of the class Christmas party. Can't wait to see you on Monday, January 9th!
Chirstmas at the Senior Center
Our class was able to spread holiday cheer today by walking to the Senior Center and singing Christmas songs. Lead by Ms. Nona, the students did a fantastic job. Smiles could be seen all around the room. I'm not certain who had a better time the kindergrateners or the seniors. Thanks to all of you who were able to join us! Please take a look at the album added under photos of this very special day. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Gingerbread Fun!
Our class read several versions of The Gingerbread Man this week. We also read The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Baby, and Gingerbread Friends. We concluded our week by performing a science experiment with a gingerbread cookie. The children made predictions about what they thought might happen to the gingerbread man if he tried to cross the river instead of riding on the back of the fox. Some thought he might sink, others thought he would get mushy, and some thought he would break into little bits. We placed a cookie in a bowl of water and when we checked on the cookie all three predictions came true! Our gingerbread unit would not have been complete with out a special snack; decorating our own gingerbread men. Thanks to all of you who sent in items to help with our special snack! Have a great weekend.
We had a Great Halloween!

Field Trip to Senior Center
Our class took a tour of the Senior Center on Thursday. The children meet several people who work at the center. We saw the cafeteria where meals are prepared for Meals on Wheels, walked through the exercise room, and saw the game room. The highlight of the trip for the kindergarteners had to be the disco ball. I am looking forward to working with the Senior Center through out the year.
Scholastic Book Orders
I hope that you all enjoyed the three day weekend! Just wanted to let you know that you can place Scholastic Book Orders online. Our class will receive a voucher for a free book valued at $3.00 for each order placed online. Our class code is J3F3G. Thank you for all that you do! See you on Tuesday.
Our First Full Day
The children were so excited to be at school until 2:45p.m. We added writing and math to our schedule as we completed our first full day. I think the class was very happy to use their resting mats at 2 o'clock.
Bird's Eye View 8-26-11
We forgot to place the Bird's Eye View in this week's Friday Folder. Please forgive the oversight. We will make certain that it goes out on Monday. In the mean time you can stay informed by going to the school's wesite and reading it there. Have a great weekend! Ms. Kathryn

Finishing Up Our Fairytale Unit
Today our class reviewed the stories The Three Bears, Henny Penny, and The Billy Goats Gruff. We chose our class favorite and reread the story during read aloud time. The children also made pigs with Ms. Nona during art time this morning. At story time, we read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. In this story the wolf gets to tell his side of the tale!
