From Joe Bonaventura (joeb@duke.edu) a note about Charlie written to Gretchen, after I learned from her of Charlie's death: Oh my, I am sorry to hear about Charlie, and, the fact is that when I, as a hiuman being am "sorry" it is for the one(s) who knew and loved the dearly departed. THis is a concept I "inherited" from my Anarchist Parents (Philosophically they were anyway). We did not attend funerals, etc and were reminded that the time to honor folks is when they are alive...

This viewpoint does allow me, at the same time to extend my condolences to you! I say that I am always, each time I hear a tuba, "In Touch" with Charlie!!! In addition, even though I have not imbibed alcohol for nearly 18 years, I will never forget the time when my former relative Celia, Charlie and Ted Grabowsky, celebrated out "impending" graduation from San DIego State, in Tijuana. I do not remember who did the following, other than that I am sure I was one that did.. and by that I refer to swallowing the caterpiller that is at the bottom of each bottle of Mescal!!! Perhaps it tasted bad, but who ever remembered? ANother thing Charlie gifted me with is a book, "Through the Intestinal Canal with Gun and Camera" by a warner S. Chapelle.... a great read when one is 17 as well as 70 years old!

Thanks for the tribute and I have all the Best Wishes for you and may the "Tunicating" continue!
