An "Electrifying" Conference

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County assisted Energy Expo Coordinator Doug Champ, in securing speakers for the Second Annual Chautauqua County Energy Expo.  Cornell University's Dr. Joseph LaQuatra and Dr. Corrine Rutke conducted presentations on Vampire Energy and NYS Biofuels Roadmap, respectively.

According to County Executive Greg Edwards, this conference is a chance to bring experts to Chautauqua County that could open opportunities for those here to become a leader in green energy.  The conference was again held at Chautauqua Suites Meeting & Expo Center in Mayville, and was sponsored by the CCIDA and National Fuel.  Exhibits began Friday afternoon at noon and continued into the weekend with simultaneous exhibits & panel discussions on energy use & development issues.  The panel discussions included several important topics for residents, businesses and elected officials.

The first night of the program featured New York State Deputy Secretary for Energy, Thomas C. Congdon.  Congdon spoke about the State's energy policy and how it will shape the future of New York.
