Watershed Education

Program Mission:

Inspire & empower individuals and communities to become stewards of Chautauqua County watersheds, by raising awareness, inspiring appreciation & facilitating positive changes through active learning and hands-on experiences.

Program Objectives:

Raise Awareness:

The program uses presentations, workshops and various media outlets to educate individuals, organizations & communities on watershed characteristics, threats to local watersheds and current management efforts to protect, restore & enhance our water resources throughout Chautauqua County.

Inspire Appreciation:

By raising awareness of both the direct & indirect benefits of healthy watersheds, the program inspires a “new appreciation” of our local water resources and the importance of personal watershed stewardship.

Facilitate Positive Actions:

By providing outreach in the form of, publications, media messages, hands-on workshops, technical assistance and community events the Watershed Stewardship Program empowers individuals to make positive changes that help restore and protect our local watersheds.
