Please join us in prayer for Brittany Cole. She became very dear to our heart after she spent three weeks with us. Today (7/8/09) she is checking into boot camp for 8 weeks. She will be in Chicago Il, so pray that the heat will be bearable and that the Lord will fill her with strength and courage and she embarks into her career.
Boys Teen Cooking Camp starts next Monday. Pray that it will be a wonderful, smooth running week, and that the campers will learn a lot.
We are very excited about a Waterfall feature that is being added this week to the Evergreen Village. Pray that as we step out in faith with this project that it is glorifying to God, and that is will be a beautiful opportunity to enhance our marriage ministry.
Pray for Tabitha, our Uphill youth lady! She is having a wonderful time and is such a big help. Please pray with us as we encourage and strengthen her walk with the Lord, preparing her for when she returns home.
It is so amazing to see the Lord at work. He just seems to have his hand in all the coordinating for volunteers. We had a few things to tie up before campers came Monday, and God sent a family for the day to help us complete the tasks. Things like that keep blessing our ministry. God is so good!
Pray for our new Uphill youth boys leader William Pinkerton. He is giving the rest of his summer to help us out with work projects, managing the boys and mentoring them as well. Pray that he can be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to lead well.
We have a yearning desire to be used by the Lord, especially with our Uphill youth program. We have boys and s here anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Our goal is to equip each young person with the necessary tools they need to be effective with their faith once they return home. Please pray that we ca be diligent to hear God's voice and for us as staff to be effective in a short amount of time. We pray that nothing will be neglected.
Pray for the Evergreen Retreat Center to be finished( in the perfect time of the Lord.) We are excited about our new ministry opportunity for married couples that will be made more complete with the finishing of this project.We are adding the water line today!
Their is still a need for sponsorships to be filled. We want to open our doors to as many youth as possible, and by the Lord's faithfulness we will. Please pray for that need.
Mountain Youth Academy is an unceasing prayer request. Our outreach to them means to much to us and we hope that we will be able to speak truth and light into their hearts every time they visit.

Pray for the hearts of volunteers who come out to serve. Many of them come out to learn more about the Lord. We wholeheartedly desire to be a light and a humble witness for the Lord to show them a life of godly service and obedience to God's will.

Praise the Lord for our boys work crew the week. We have 9 boys out here this week working with Stu and accomplishing a lot. We also have three s helping us in the kitchen, and with cleaning. They have helped get all the little cleaning tasks around the camp finished and that has been such a blessing. We are having a wonderful week, the Lord has provided us with the perfect combination of volunteers!

Can anyone believe we’re in the last week of July? The summer is beginning to wind down as we have only 2 weeks left in the UpHill Youth program. For the last couple of weeks Hayden and Natatlie Porter have joined us! We are now down to Connor, William, and Wesley as the uphill boys and Abby, Tabitha, Natalie, Hunter and Hayden as our uphill ladies. Last week we had come of the weekend. They helped Judd Pinnix with the Pond and the Freedom Farm men were also helping with the pond construction on Thursday. It was such a blessing to be able to minister to those men. They accomplished a lot. We also have the Edwards family who arrived Saturday and are helping us the whole week. Peace Presbyterian Church youth group arrived Monday and they will be finishing the pond and all the landscaping in the evergreen village this week. Judd was able to spend quite a few days out here organizing the work teams and leading the design of the beautiful waterfall feature.

Pray for Stu and John who just left on a three day backpacking trip on the . Even though it’s raining they were all smiles as they departed with the Ellington men and the Kimbro men. Please pray with us that they can stay moderately dry and safe, and of course have a grand time!

This will be my last week here at Cherokee Cove. I will be picking up my sister from the airport on Sunday. She was in all summer and I have missed her terribly! I’ll be preparing for college and transitioning to independent life at in the next couple of weeks. I am so thankful I was able to be of some help out here this summer. The Lord has defiantly taught me a lot and I pray that I accomplished His will through serving, cleaning, and just being a friend to all the Uphill girls. I have had a blast and it will be bittersweet to leave a week early.

We finished out our Bible Study on James last night and gleaned a lot of wisdom and life lessons from studying the thoughts of James. One verse that struck me this week was “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere” James 3:17 What a reminder of how we should be acting as Christians. We should spend our lives pursuing wisdom and striving to personify those quality traits listed in James 3:17

Hello friends! We have had a fun filled week! We had a wonderful end of the week with the teen cooking camp boys and had a restful Friday afternoon. Saturday we had another dance and enjoyed having many families from our community join all our Uphill youth here for the festivities. The weekend finished well and we had a peaceful Sunday rest.

Monday started the week off with an exciting road trip! We decided that it would be a worthwhile, educational trip to visit the Creation Museum in Kentucky. We left around noon Monday and found a pleasant camp site in Kentucky half an hour away from the Museum. We relaxed and cooked dinner around the campfire, had sweet fellowship, and a wonderful Bible Study. Tuesday morning we toured the Museum. They have beautiful botanical gardens, a planetarium, and sensational exhibits proving creation as truth vs. evolution. It was a nice break in our routine to go on that major fieldtrip and I feel like we learned a lot from seeing the proof from the Bible and from our earth laid out in many exhibits.

We would like to recognize the hard work and the creativity that Judd Pinnix has brought to the camp through the new waterfall/pond feature at the Evergreen Village. He has been out here this week really putting everything into motion and tomorrow the pond should be filled full of water. The Uphill boys: Connor, William, Gabe, Jason, Zak, Wesley and Jesse have been working hard on the landscaping and maintenance around the pond. We had Freedom Farm men out here today helping push through the process and they will be joining us again tomorrow to help finish it up. The Uphill girls: Susanna, Abby, Hunter, and Tabitha have been working with me doing housekeeping and cooking. The teens our here this week are so enjoyable and the Lord has been growing all of us through our fellowship with each other.

Ever since we’ve had the boys work week we have been having Bible Studies twice a day. This has proven to be very effective and helpful in all of our lives. The Lord has used our offering of half an hour to an hour of Bible study every morning and evening to teach everyone who’s been in and out the past couple of weeks, and grow them immensely. What a blessing it is to quietly sit in the presences of God twice a day enjoying the fellowship of others, hearing testimonies, and sharing prayer requests. That time has kept us connected and in the will of the Lord.

With that said our needs are increasing. The Lord has provided more counseling opportunities and the needs of people are increasing. Pray for us as we discern the proper direction the Lord wants us to take. Pray that the need will be filled for counselors and that the hurting people at our doorstep will be carefully attended and ministered to.

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness….But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14,15b) In Joshua 24 one will read the account of the Israelites and Joshua reminding them what the Lord delivered them from and how abundantly they were blessed. We strongly believe in relating to others the blessings from the Lord and using that as a testimony to bring others closer to God. We have all been brought through good and bad circumstances and the Lord has aloud them all. It is our responsibility to take our experiences and to glorify the Lord through thanksgiving to others of His greatness. Let us not forsake the Lord, and let us serve Him through all the monotonies of our days, through every trial, and through every blessing from the Lord.
