The Love Kitchen, in Pinetop, has been serving our community for 24 years. We serve, approximately 135 meals a day Monday – Friday.
Our meals consist of:
A hot dish (Casserole, Pasta, Baked Chicken, etc.).
Salad or Hot Vegetable
Fruit
Bread
Dessert
Each Wednesday we give out approximately 135-210 food bags, provided we have enough food in our pantry.
A basic food bag contains:
1 can meat product (tuna, chicken, Spam, etc.)
1 can of soup or 2 pkgs of top ramen, 2 cans vegetables,
1 bag pasta, 1 can tomato/spaghetti sauce, 1 can of fruit,
1 bag of rice, 1 bag of beans or lentils, 1 box mac-n-cheese,
*1 extra item, 1-3 packages of fresh meat variety
*Extra item includes cereal, oatmeal, crackers, cookie or other items that may be available.
We also keep a box of toiletries that are available upon request.
In 2008 we served 25,759 hot meals. In 2009 the Love Kitchen served 28,179 hot meals. That is a 2,420 difference / increase over a one year period. In 2008 we gave out 4217 food bags. In 2009 we gave 5,681.
Our economy has been affected, and we believe these numbers will continue to increase.
We gladly accept donations of food items, toiletries, monetary, & gift cards.
