The Cincinnati Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipes & Drums
is in the initial stages of starting a Pipe and Drum Corps. We are seeking assistance in this endeavor to establish a core of new student pipers and drummers. Currently we have a number of members and students who possess musical talent, ability and enthusiasm for this undertaking. We are also seeking any other assistance experienced pipers may be willing to provide to our group. Our corps of experienced pipers and drummers have appeared in many Irish events and celebrations throughout Cincinnati, Hamilton County, and the Tri-State area, as well as throughout the Nation and as far away as Sweden. The Cincinnati Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipes & Drums is a new group in the Hamilton County, Cincinnati, Ohio and Tri-State area. There is no doubt that Pipers like we have in our band who have come from such a large piping environment, whereby Piping was and still is a way of life and hobby for us, we can and will add that something special to any event. Coming from the type of Piping background that we have to offer you, we know, that we are qualified to offer you our services as your "Personal Piper" without question. Whether It be for your Fund Raisers, Family Gatherings, Celebrations, Scottish & Irish Gatherings and Games, Police & Fire Events, Weddings or a special one of a kind Bachelorette Party, Corporate Event, New Years Party, Masonic function, etc, the list is endless, we can and will, give you and your guests a time to remember, for all the right reasons! Of course, we also play for funerals too. Nothing is more poignant than the sight of Piper and sound of the Pipes preceding the cortege prior to the service, and then afterwards the Piper playing in the distance during the committal. Whatever the event we will gladly advise organizers as to which tunes are most appropriate to the occasion. Our prices are amongst the most competitive in the area and start from $100.00 for a single piper for 1 hour (event depending), to $800 for the entire band (depending on event type) and a non returnable deposit of $50.00 is also required upon booking. Molly Malone's in Covington Ky, is the home of the Cincinnati Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipes & Drums who are recruiting new members, fans of our Band, and anyone interested in Piping & Drumming.
The band meets for practice Mondays at 7:00 PM at Molly Malones, 112 E. Fourth St. Covington, Ky. on the third floor of the pub. Please feel free to come by to see us. Remember to be in the Emerald Society is an Honor! To be Irish is a blessing! Erin Go Bragh!!! May those who love us love us. And those that don't love us, May God turn their hearts. And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May He twist their fingers, So we'll know them by their piping! Anyone needing a uniform shirt let Winkydink know ASAP. We are the festival band for this event; free parking is set up a very short walk from the festival. This is also another fund raiser for us and myself and several others will be getting there at around 3pm to set up our booth and get started on the beer drinking (shh we don’t do that) and if anyone wants to come early to help out that’s cool or just be there by 4 or 430pm, so come out and have a really great time and a lot of fun.
...Guinness 200 year Anniversary Block Party: Molly Malone’s is hosting this to celebrate 200 years of Guinness Beer and we are the band playing this event. The date is yet to be set but as the info comes in I of course will pass it along to you all, should be in either July or August.
...August 28th, 29th & 30th Irish Tug O’ War: Germainia Park is the site of this Irish event; we will be the pipe band playing and pulling on the rope to show our strength and support for this event, we will even/maybe have a booth to sell some Ts and CDs, I will get you wankers more info as we all know this is a great and fun time every year.
...September 9-11 Event is being set up by Molly Malone’s to Honor Our Fallen, as usual we will have a booth and raise some money, play for the crowd and party all night long,
...Covington is hosting the F.O.P. State Convention of 250 to 300 police officers and is doing an Irish Night in October and Molly Malone’s will be the place for this event along with us the Cincy Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipes & Drums (yes our first hosting kinda since we have actually but not formally done it already). I will get ya more info as I get or pry it from Josh over at molly’s (a few pints outta loosen his lips to get me some info).
Just Happened:
On Monday the 6th of July we had practice, and what a great one it was. The usual wankers were there along with our Cincinnati Fire guys, and our Cincinnati Police guys, and Cincinnati Police supporters, and our Probation Officers supporters as well as the general public and community that helps us remember why we love doing this.
Gotta tell ya… WE WERE GIVEN OUR OWN BASS DRUM!!! Now how awesome is that! A donation to pay for two kilts, with more donations coming in all the time.
Now we started on pipes and marched out side, played great and sounded awesome as usual (no shite here lads/lasses it was fecking awesome) and the outside crowd loved it, passer by’s stopped and watched and listened and took some snap shots, and we keep drawing them in to the pub and us.
Inside we hit the chanters, and I kept a beat, the newbie Nancy is doing great and sounding really good, she’s picking it up pretty fast and learning quickly. Big Lance Donaldson took her aside and worked with her, and once we were done on the chanters we ended with our show set and rocked the house. Everyone loved it and someone bought us a round of brews for playing so well and entertaining them.
The kudo’s just keep coming and we sound great, love a band that progresses every week and this we are doing.
So come on out and have some fun while practicing, and practice your tunes, practice your tunes, practice your frig’n tunes!!!
Have a great week Boy’o see ya next Monday and remember to practice your tunes, practice your tunes, and practice your frig’n tunes!!!
Erin Go Bragh!!!
