End of the Year Events!!!

It’s only a few more “2011-20012 School Year” days left  before YOUR 3rd grader becomes a  4th grader!!! How exciting!!

Please make sure to check the class/school calendar daily.  We have special events throughout the remainder of the year.  There may be some changes, but if so- we will let you guys know.

As always, kids tend to get a little excited during this time of the year and you will noticed work ethic’s aren’t as “sharp” as they were the pervious semesters. This is a very critical time of the year…  A lot of students are tittering between grades.  We are not allowed to give extra credit assignments to tip those grades over one way or the other. Please help your child understand he/she has the ability to determine his/her final grade. Please continue to encourage your child to do his or her best! They can do it!!! Let’s buckle down and give 100%!!!

Go Sparrow Hawks!!!

Reading Requirements

I am sure you’ve noticed your child’s reading stamina has increased; the reading homework -required amount of reading time has as well.  The last semester of the school year your child will be required to read 30 minutes each night and complete a nightly reading log. We will start using reading logs as soon  as we return from the holiday break.

To record your child’s reading, simply have your child write the title of the book they read on their log each night, along with the number of minutes read. Then, parents may simply initial next to their entry.

At the end of the week, students are required to total those minutes read AT HOME and record it on his/her weekly choice card. Total minutes read will be recorded on Monday. (No back dating.)

If students do not complete their reading log (or other homework assignments) he/she will be required to stay in and read during recess.
