Our poor economy has caused chaos in the employment field. Many jobs have disappeared never to again be seen, others have been outsourced, leaving people wondering where the job security is. This leaves many people wondering where the job security is. Statistically, the best job security can be had in the medical field, now and in the future.
You may consider becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant and work in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, long term care facility or anywhere else you may be needed and be a vital part of the patient’s healthcare program. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will work closely under the supervision of a registered nurse becoming a part of the patient’s medical team. The CNA must be alerted to the patient’s behavior and know what to do if there is an emergency.
When Certified Nursing Assistant is called work in a patient’s he or she are still under the supervision of the registered nurse. The CNA’s duties will consist of such things as: taking vital signs, helping patients to eat, wash, dress, and other things a patient cannot do for him or herself. Although the CNA is not required to do any heavy housework, keeping the patients surroundings neat and clean are part of the job.
The CNA needs to be certified and before a certification can be had there is a regime of training that he/she has to go through. First the CNA has to be trained in the proper fundamental hygiene as follows:
·Brushing and flossing a patient’s teeth; ·Helping the patient shower, shampoo and comb or brush their hair; ·Assisting male patient’s in shaving; ·See the patient to the bathroom or giving them a bed pan; ·Empty urinary bags; · Provide care to patients with catheters and must be trained to be able to insert a catheter; and they ·Collect urine and stool samples and provide enemas.
This list shows only some of the fundamental hygiene procedures that the CNA is required to perform. CNA classes also includes: ·Taking the patient’s vital signs and recording them; ·They learn to dress and undress a patient; and ·They learn to properly move a patient from bed to chair. This training includes the use of mechanical lifts.
