Weekly Updates

Mid Season Update

We are 3 and 1 on the season, with victories over the Rhinos twice (game #1 and game #4) and the Kingman. Our only loss to date is at the hands of the Ravens, although that one is unofficially under protest due to rules not being enforced by the referees :-) We are definitely in the playoffs, but still have 2 more regular season games that I know we can win.

We are hoping to complete a pass or two before the post season, but we need more consistent blocking. We will be adding 2 more plays to our game plan this week; one pass and one run.

Parent To-Dos

You need to register your son with the AAU League at http://aaufootball.org (Click on the AAU Membership Programs). The cost for registration, unfortunately, is $14.00 per player. I will need your child's membership number to add them to the game day rosters. Please get this done ASAP. It only takes a few minutes.

UNITY Thunder Changes

Sean Pierce resigned as UNITY Thunder Football Commissioner, and Claude L. Williams named interim/ acting commissioner.

League Change

We have changed leagues from the Capital Beltway League (CBL) to the Greater Metropolitan Youth Football League.

Preparing for UNITY Tackle Football

Parents, please make sure you prepare your son for the upcoming season by purchasing the following at your earliest convenience:

1. Rubber bottom cleats (Required)

2. Integrated BLACK football practice pants

3. An athletic cup to protect the groin area

4. A YOUTH sized mouth piece (although we will supply ONE you may want to have a spare in case one gets lost)

5. If you live in Maryland, a MVA issued identification card.

The End of Flag Football (Vansville 6-7 Team 2011)

We made it to the CHAMPIONSHIP with commitment and DISCIPLINE!!!! Unfortunately, we lost to an undefeated team after a hard fought game... No shame. We are champions, nevertheless. We proudly accept our championship game medals and trophy with the knowledge we put in the HARD-WORK and accomplished something special as a team. We are the Vansville Wildcats 6-7 year old team; RESPECT!
