Welcome to CCS Physical Education 2011-2012

I am excited about this upcoming school year and the many opportunities, challenges, and activities your child will experience in physical education class.  We will engage in a variety of activities which include fitness skills, agility skills, sport skills, competitive games, team building, and much more.  The following are the 5 expectations, as well as explanation of each, to be successful in physical education class this year.

 1.  BE PREPARED - Student arrives to class on time and is dressed appropriately for physical activity.  Proper footwear is necessary for safety and best performance.  No flip flops, heels, or open toed shoes/sandals.

2.  RESPECT AUTHORITY AND PEERS - Student responds appropriately to teacher and peers; demonstrates respect for the property of school and others

3. LISTEN ATTENTIVELY TO AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS - Follows directions completely and in a timely manner, listens to teacher(s), and accepts responsibility for actions.

4.  MAXIMUM EFFORT/WORK HARD - Works hard, gives maximum effort in all areas of physical education, perseveres, does not waste time, gets to work right away, and remains on task.

5. HAVE A POSITIVE, COOPERATIVE ATTITUDE - Attitude directed towards teacher, peers, and activities is positive; refrains from complaining, whining, or making excuses; demonstrates good sportsmanship and teamwork.

I believe that it is going to be a great year!  I look forward to the progress each student is going to make this year!

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart

CCS did a great job with this years Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association!  The school raised $2,162.78 more than DOUBLE the amount raised last year!

Coach Huber awarded the class who raised the most money with a pizza party.  This year's class winner was Ms. Ginsburg's 1st grade class who raised $348.00.  Individuals who raised the most money were Marley Sikes (1st grade) with $130.00, Leah and Fletcher Spillman (4th and 2nd grade) with $111.50 each and Caleb Gooch (3rd grade) with $100.00.

Thanks to all of you who supported the American Heart Association, helping them to make a difference in the lives of children with special hearts.

"It takes Heart to be a Hero" sung by Hunter Pecunia is used by permission from the American Heart Association.  You can see a video of her performing this song on www.americanheart.org/jump.
