I was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 16, 1975. The first thing I ever did was go to a party. I was 3 days old and attended the Duggan Family Reunion. I love all aspects of a celebration - the people, the place, the decorations, the music and most of all the food. I think that might be where it all started, when I was 3 days old. I still love going to parties.
It took me a while to figure it out though, I did what a lot of kids do, I went to college and then traveled Europe with a girlfriend where I'm pretty sure we enjoyed TGI Friday's over most of the Euro cuisine we encountered. When I returned, I started my career in advertising/marketing in Minneapolis and ultimately moved to San Francisco and now have arrived in Chicago.
Along the way however, I started to find myself more and more interested in all things food, and have had a few wonderful influences in my food endeavors that must be mentioned here:
1) My dear friend Kristine who's been impressing me with her culinary prowess since we were in junior high when she made homemade soft pretzels. As we got older she continued to wow me with her mussels and risotto, and most of all introducing me to gorgonzola or what we fondly coined "the g-spot."
2) The fantastic city of San Francisco for exposing me to some of the best food in the country, from the most amazing farmers market to Eating Club with the ladies.
3) Most of all my mom, Colleen who is the greatest cook of all. Her abilities in the kitchen continue to amaze me. Especially with our always hungry and bursting at the seams family. Who can whip out a dinner for 10 on a Tuesday when you've worked all day? Colleen can.
So that's me in a nutshell.
Trying to find out if what I'm here to do is to feed you.
