I would like to wish our Scouting family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Our Pack has once more created many memories over this wonderful year of 2011. We have much to reflect on and cherish with our families and young scouts. Over the last half of this year, we have:
· proudly welcomed home hundreds of loyal Troops at DFW airport through our Welcome Home the Troops service project
· wished a happy Labor Day to our fellow Garland citizens in the downtown Labor Day Parade
· said farewell to 9 amazing scouts and 10 dedicated leaders as we watched them crossover into Boy Scouts at our Arrow of Light ceremony
· welcomed almost 30 new families to our Pack since the Fall recruitment drive
· sold over $22,218 in popcorn to help our Scouting movement
· enjoyed an action-packed family Fall campout at Eisenhower State Park
· camped with Boy Scouts troops at Webelos Woods
· donated nearly 1,000 boxes of Mac ‘n Cheese to the Good Samaritans of Garland to help our friends in the local community
· presented a wonderful Christmas tree full of thoughtfully crafted Scout ornaments to our community elders at Winters Park Nursing Home
But wait!!! The best is yet to come. Get ready for a rockin’ time as we prepare for our:
· Rank Advancement – 1/23
· Blue and Gold Banquet – 2/11
· Pinewood Derby race – 2/19
· Scouting for Food – 2/19
· Pack Spring Campout – April
I would like to thank each and every one of you for allowing my family and I to be a part of your family this scouting year. I look forward to an amazing and adventurous 2012!
Happy Thanksgiving Day Pack 1978!
My hope for this very special day, is that you all have a safe and memorable time with your families. May your tables overflow with meals prepared from the heart. May your afternoon savor in sweet delights. May your living rooms flood with fellowship. For throughout the day, we all have many reasons to stop and give THANKS.
As you celebrate today, I ask that you also keep others in your thoughts. Those that, through this past year, may have lost more than most can bear. Those that simply need a warm meal and a handshake. In the spirit of Scouting, I look forward to seeing the generosity of our Pack shine through our upcoming Mac ‘N Cheese food drive. I am asking for every scout to donate 20 boxes of Mac ‘N Cheese at our December 5th Pack Meeting. We will take the donation to Good Samaritans so that they have more to distribute to our fellow citizens of Garland, and beyond. Can you imagine the impact that we can make on our community?!
Also, Tricia and I would like to start a new Pack 1978 tradition. We will be donating a Christmas Tree to a local Garland location on behalf of Pack 1978. However, we will need our Scouts to fill this tree with ornaments. So please bring a handmade craft to hang on this tree. You do not have to buy anything at the store. Simply create a Token of Joy, along with your Scout’s name, and bring it to our December 5th Pack Meeting. Our plan is deliver a Pack 1978 Christmas Tree to a local Retirement or Outreach center. I will let you all know the location within the next week.
Blessings to you all,
Mario Mojica, Cubmaster
I hope everyone had a fantastic time at our Fall Family Campout, just as my family and I did! We had an amazing time hiking, throwing pies, earning our Bobcat patch, becoming junior Rangers, whittling, fishing, EATING, and so much more. I am so grateful to all of the leaders and parent volunteers for your hard work in making this a memorable weekend for all of us. Neither the 18-wheeler nor the rain could stop us from having fun. This is scouting at it's best.... Making lasting memories!
We had a kickin' great time yesterday at our Scout vs. Leader Kickball Game. I am happy to report that our scouts took the victory scoring 25 runs to 2 over the adults. What a great game! I am very proud of all of our hard working scouts during this popcorn season!
We had an AMAZING time today at Advantage Storage! Mr. T-Tom and Mrs. Janette were most welcoming and a joy to spend time with. This month the Flaming Stickman, Duct Tape, and Cottonmouth Patrols showed their gratitude by tidying up the facilities, and eating a few donuts along the way. Our Pack is very grateful for the generosity of Mr. T-Tom and Mrs. Janette. Way to go scouts!! Thank you to the parents who also rolled up their sleeves today.
Mario

Pack 1978,
Centennial Camporee is almost here!! After talking with a lot of people at Circle 10 on Friday this is our game plan. Kevin Saye and I will be taking a trailer down on Friday morning with all the Scouts gear. I suggest every Scout that is going to bring me their tent and sleeping bag on Thursday. We will be setting all tents up for the Scouts. The official check in location is Camp Wisdom. The shuttles will begin at 5:00pm to Dallas Executive Airport. The closer to 4:30 to 5:00 that your Scout can arrive at Camp Wisdom the less time waiting in lines to get on a bus. Your Scout must be able to carry his gear he brings from the bus all the way to the site by himself. We will be charging everyone $5.00 for food for the weekend. You can pay that on Thursday when you drop off their gear. There will be lots of souvenirs and food for sale at the Camporee. The registration fee included a t-shirt so I would not give your Scout any more than $20.00.
Things to bring for sure:
Water Bottle Head Light Tripod Stoll
Poncho Warm Clothing Pack T-shirt
Remember to pack as light as you can. He will have to carry his own gear.
Thanks
Stevan Sanderson

CONGRATULATIONS go to The Flaming Stickman!!!!!!! This week’s winner of the Pizza Party. Great Job!! We have three parties left. Who will win next week?
I received a call from 2 scout that were so excited to tell me that they are both over $600.00 and have a pie with my name on it.--Thanks Mark and John McKelvey
Go Green!!
What a great start for us. We had Den 6 average $606.87 per scout and the Duct Tape Patrol average $489.63 per scout. Great Job! 19 scouts already earned a spot in our Kickball game. 8 scouts have earned pies to thrown at Hula Girl aka Mr. Barron and a marshmallow crossbow shooter. Go to the Fundraiser page for a List of scouts and top sellers. We sold $17,696.99 and averaging $210.68 our first week selling. We need to have another week like that to get to our first goal of $450.00 and finally to $650.00. There is already $2247.27 earned to go into den accounts. Den 6 won the Pizza party this week.
GO GREEN!!
Lets the selling begin! As of last night 5 prizes has been awarded. Max Lavinsky was the first to call at 3:30 with $402.00 and back at 4:45 for the Rubber chicken. He was in a battle with Thomas Hermann that had called at 4:01 with $408.00 and back again at 4:58 with $620.00. What a great start!! I know a lot were out yesterday including Tanner and me. With the Cowboy game at night this should be a great day and should still have the edge on most other scouts. Lets all try to be at $450.00 by Pack Meeting.

I hope you're enjoying the summer!
Stevan Sanderson
We'd like to show our gratitude to the Sanderson's. It's not until we began to volunteer that we understood first hand how many hours it takes to help run this pack. Then we thought about the Sanderson’s and how much time and effort they put in for all of the pack families to enjoy the Cub Scout experience and help our sons grow. Having said that, we'd like to say a big THANK YOU to Stevan and Sharla. The endless service you provide for our pack is invaluable. Together you have inspired us to want to be of good service to the pack as well. May God bless your family and keep you leading the Pack for as long as He can. Keep up the great work Sanderson’s! You ROCK!
