Fred we look forward to seeing you, and all of the veterans at our BN social; John, I'm sorry you couldn't make it to this one.
This is an unusual social, it has a theme so a lot of the Soldiers will be wearing civillian clothes, including me and the other company commanders, though some will wear the Class A uniform. Between you and I, I wish it was just Soldiers in uniform, I love wearing it and it instill pride in most of our Soldiers. On the day after the social I believe LTC Womack is having a small get together at his house, this will be a great time for us to socialize and tell some stories.

The company is doing great. We are preparing to deploy at the end of August, so we are busy ensuring all Soldiers have taken care of everything they need. We think this will be about a 12 month tour, and we will switch with the 3-187IN Rakasaans. I am very excited about leading the company over there and they have earned the distinction as the BNs Main Effort. We will have a platoon from D Co attached to us to increase our combat power to 4 platoons. I will continue to keep all of you informed on what the company is doing during our deployment.

Well I look forward to seeing you all, and John I wish you could make it. We will drink one for you. It is quite an honor to have the following that Alpha Company has with its past.

Gary, I heard you were killed at Khe Sanh, so it was great when I got together with Bruce Moore, Ken Parr, Ray Sowinski and the others at a reunion and found that the rumors were, um, premature. I hope you can make either an Alpha or 506th reunion soon...they are terrific.

John It was great to see the photos. Brings back many memories. I am in #61 and #132. I am in the back row standing in the rain. Looks like I fell asleep standing there. ha
I will try to add some of my photos. I really missed all you guys when we finally got our tour in.

John, Thanks again for your efforts to bring the members of our association together. Carol and I look forward to the memorial dedication at Ft. Campbell on November 12th.

Thanks, John! You've gone to a lot of work. We appreciate it.

very nice,I have a deep feeling that the67thru69 aco members have not been very active in either web sites. but as there 1sgt, they are truly worthy to being called "as kickers"... They erected that sign that was proudly shown in many pictures of the A co rear area at camp Evans. Thank yopu again for trying to unite these very deserving vets of Hamburger Hill

506th Airborne Infantry Association

Welcome

Welcome to the Alpha 1/506 Company - Vietnam pictures site! As new (or old) pictures are available, they will be added to the Vietnam photos album or to albums for each reunion event.

To contribute pictures, contact John Lally at johnlally@comcast.net. I will make every effort to properly credit the photos.  I prefer electronic copies of photos, either in .jpg, .gif or .tiff format.  Don't sent irreplaceable photos or slides...send copies if you must send the physical pictures.

Please include label text so I don't have to guess about the people, places and events.  After all, some of you have aged a bit over the past 40 or so years, while I'm still youthful and energetic...

I aim to keep the tone of this site as light as possible, but also want to respect the feelings of our fellow vets and their families. If you object to the inclusion of a picture or think the text is in bad taste, let me know.

Finally, if you know of any Alphas who I've missed, please send me their name and address and, if possible, their e-mail address.  We have added some of the active-duty Currahees who are carrying on our traditions, and I will of course include family members of deceased or ill veterans.  But mostly, this is a site BY Vietnam vets FOR Vietnam vets...so enjoy!

I also strongly encourage you to join the 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment Association.  This all-volunteer organization sponsors reunions and provides services, events and efforts supporting active duty troops and veterans.  The website has historical and current information resources that will be of great interest to many of you. Membership fees are $25 a year, and it's a real bargain.  A great many former Alphas are members, and three of us are on the Board of Directors.

Check out the Currahee! website at http:www.506infantry.org, the Currahee blog at http://506infantry.blogspot.com/ or contact Hoyt Bruce ("Moe") Moore, Fred May or me for more information.
