Welcome back students!

I am happy to be here at Creek Wood; it is going to be another great year!  I look forward to seeing returning students and getting to know new ones.  This year we will have some exciting opportunities that have not been offered before.  It is my desire to inspire students to strive for excellence, and also equip them with the skills to go out into the healthcare field with an upward advantage.  During the year, students will learn practical skills like taking vital signs, bandaging wounds, administering first aid, and how to perform CPR.  Students will have the opportunity to receive their CPR certification.

Absences:  Please do your best to be here at school every day.  It is extremely important to ensure success in this class.  Much of what is taught in Health Science courses is not difficult, but is very unfamiliar content.  Students with multiple absences struggle and may have difficulty scheduling time to makeup skills that are demonstrated and practiced in class, so please be here as much as possible.  If you are absent, pick up missed work at the beginning of class from the absent folder.

HOSA Club:  (Health Occupation Students of America)

Students in this course are eligible to join the HOSA club!  The benefits of joining HOSA are unimaginable!  HOSA is a fun and positive group of students that are working hard toward their career goals together.  There are opportunities to learn skills and compete at the regional, state, and national levels.  Skills learned for competition give them a leg up on their career.  Other HOSA activities include working blood drives, Survive the Celebration, and service projects to help our community.  Last year we gathered over 2700 children’s books for local literacy programs.  HOSA helps students make friends, learn skills, and earn valuable scholarships as well.  Dues are $20 and it is not too late to join HOSA.
