Courtyard at Shaw Court
We spent out first 2 nights here. It was clean, quiet and we felt at ease here. We were so happy to have the space.

hall #3
I guess I was excited about taking pics of the hall, lol.

bathroom
Clean and worked well--had a tub with a shower.

Double bedded room
The smaller of the two rooms.

Eddie in twin room
Beds were very comfortable.

Kitchen was clean & modern
but was VERY sparse-4 chipped plates & bowls, basic flatware, glasses, 2 pans/pots, some utensils a toaster and kettle.

Dining area

View to the left
out the living room and twin bedded room windows.

View across and to the right
It didn't bother us--afterall we were in a big city. It looked as if work was being done on it inside the apartments.

Happy to be off the plane
in the living room.

Another living room shot
Futon was fine for siting on, but no one slept on it.

Entrance to Shaw Court Apts.
If you didn't know to look for this arch, you'd pass it right by. It's actually a street we are walking on!

That's almost $48K USD!
For a Hyundai! 2x as much as it would be in the US. The duty on cars is outrageous in Ireland.

Lough Derg
Near Ballina, on Johnny's Magical Mystery Tour of the countryside. We went about 140 kilometers out of our way, lol.

Ford Punto (?)--so tiny!
That enormous looking car next to it is a Corolla! I took this at one our many stops for directions on the way to Clare

The long ride

Front of our house in Liscannor
They houses were very nice, modern, warm and clean! No complaints--we'd all stay again.

Hall downstairs
Forward is the kitchen, right is the stairway, bedroom and bathroom are the doors on the left.

Kitchen was great

Pretty dining room

My nemesis.
I appreciate my Maytags at home SO much now. This is a washer/dryer and it sucked. I could go on and on about it...

Living room
The only thing it missed was a radio/stereo--there was no music. We had 3 stations shown on 87 channels, lol.

another living room pic

Downstairs bedroom
We thought this had a double down here, but it was only a twin. All 3 houses we had were the same-oh well.

Downstairs bathroom w/shower

Down the stairs.

Larger upstairs bedroom
The kids shared this room. Eddie in 1 bed, Kelly and Dillon shared the other--one at each end. They loved this room!

Bathroom ensuite to kids room
Had a shower.

Our room
Was smaller than the other, but roomy enough. No ensuite, but hall bathroom was just out the door.

Another of our room

View...
from a window in our bedroom.

View...
from our other bedroom windows.

The hall bath
Had a tub, no shower.

3 happy kids!
they were so good and had such a great time!

Auntie Mary
The bearer of gifts.

Poker night

Who won?

Um, so, yah...okay?
Eddie's favorite saying on the trip. This was his chair--his favorite spot.

We look so serious...
...but we weren't. It was a really fun night!

Smile!
This is me after 3/4 of a bottle of Shiraz...

In Lahinch
Lahinch was only a few minute drive from where we were staying. It was bigger than Liscannor (our town).

Me and my girl

Most of the Clare crowd

My baby

"CHEEESSSEEEE"

My celebrity son.
No pictures, please.

Lahinch

Dillon and Daddy

Look out!

My babies bundeled up!

Ahhh, the beach.
Nothing says Ireland like parkas and hats at the seaside.

Liscannor Bay in Lahinch

RUN!!!
There is a windsurfer in the water behind Kelly. Earlier in the day there were several and several surfers as well.

So cold!
Me, Kelly and my giant purse with all the important stuff (chocolate, passports, chapstick and tissues).

C'est moi!
What a great way to spend a Sunday.

PW looking for a signal.
Can you hear me now?

pretty rocks

A brave soul
Even in a wetsuit it's FREEZING COLD!

Dillon and his bucket
He was shivering, but determined.

Eddie

Kelly
Didn't want her hands sandy, lol.

Eddie
Still loves to play in the sand.

A masterpiece

What are they doing?
Eddie accidently dropped all 3 shovels into the foam. We had 2 crushed little kids crying their eyes out.

still looking...

They found them!
and just after they did a huge wave came up & washed out all the foam. The shovels were found in the nick of time.

Lahinch

Who wants ice cream??

Eddie does!

So does Dillon!

Lunch in Lahinch

Dillon and Paddy
They got along great!

Silly boys

Happy girl

Paddy the ham.

Eddie the ham.

The band
I joked that I flew 6000 miles to hear "Folsom Prison Blues" in an Irish pub, lol.

What else could you need?

Roulette night
I missed this night. It started late and I fell asleep putting the kids down :( Teresa won the big money, S won 2nd.

Eddie's favorite thing!
Yummy!

Breakfast for me

Where I sat and ate it

Where Dillon ate his.
It was sunny, but pretty chilly outside.

From our back garden
Across the other two houses gardens. We go so lucky with the weather, and it was so nice to have the big gardens.

Kelly-bird.

I love this picture!

Johnny and Jody

The back of the house

Steve's nemesis
How many people does it take?

Dillon and Uncle Paddy
Yep, 2 Uncle Paddy's. How lucky can one boy be?

Will it fly?

maybe it will fly...

Steve's $15 waterproof Walmart
boots were great when he had to go into the mucky bog to get the kite untangeled from the berry bushes. Dang kite, lol.

fun times

looking down towards Liscannor

Paddy Incredible
He forgot his hat, so I loaned him Dillon's 'Dash' hat. I think Paddy still has it, lol.

Me, Kelly, Dillon and PW

Sarah took this photo
From L-R back row-Johnny, me, grandad, Eddie/bottom row, Jodi, PW, Stephen, Dillon and Kelly

O' Briens Tower arch
The tower was closed, so we couldn't go up in it.

Me and Eddie
I think Eddie made a face in 98 percent of the photos we took of him. He is so 12 :)

Lisdoonvarna
"We went to Lisdoonvarna, but it was closed"...

In Lisdoonvarna
There is a movie about the matchmaker festival held in this town every fall. I can tell you it's a ghost town in April.

In Lisdoonvarna
I find this kind of creepy.

Pretty countryside
This was on the way to Lisdoonvarna from the Cliffs, near Doolin, I think.

In Lisdoonvarna
This tavern has been in the same family for nearly 100 years.

The Aran Islands
We were sorry we didn't have the time to go over as the weather was wonderful for a ferry. Next trip, we hope.

I went into the store
And still dont' know the story. But there was some pretty jewelery here.

We had dinner here one afternoon
I liked it, S thought it was ok. The dining room was nice and had a view. We paid 12euro for the daily roast w/veg.

Johnny's Beach

Another

Stephen gets artistic

Just beautiful

The same area
I don't know how Johnny found this spot.

Eddie and his hero
Eddie slipped here, and Johnny grabed him just before he fell 20 feet.

This bike was just sitting there

Clare Sunset
From the beach Johnny found.

Tractors, tractors everywhere
everywhere in Clare.

See how close the signal is?
There didn't seem to be a standard for signage and distance. Some were very close, some were really far away.

Old church and graveyard

This place is a must-do
I though tit would be hokey, but it was really neat. Not just the fantastic castle, but the village and homes too.

This was the first house
we went into.

Outside of the house
and Dillon running by.

This house was really smokey
all the homes had fires burning in them.

Inside tower stairwell
This was a wide section, but it isn't very wide. I kinda of freaked in one of these and had to leave (quit laughing)

Funny Steve
I heard my name, but it took me 20 seconds to find him. He had lots of fun teasing everyone!

Bunratty Castle est 1425
The site was originally a Viking camp est in 970. This si the last of 4 castles built here and was FANTASTIC!

River Fergus

Another cottage in the
folk park. One just wanders the paths and goes in and out of the structures.

I liked the plates
This is insde the white cottage.

I think this is a saddle

Inside the white cottage

A surgeron's home

Do you see what I see?
I'm sure my DC friends will see it!

In front of the schoolhouse

in the school

From inside the school

Stephen sat in desks like this!
In the 70's no less (looks like Little House to me...)

Eddie spitting on his slate

The perfect pupil
and her pinecone. I think that may still be in my giant purse.

Turf for the fire

looking up the road
from the school. This is in the Folk Park. In the summer employees fill the street in costume and in character.

Jodi and Dillon
Jodi is Teresa's great-niece (?) and Kelly and Dillon just LOVED folowing her and Sarah around. Sarah is camera shy.

Lunchtime!
We ate here for lunch and Kelly kept asking to go back.

The flag on top

The princess

Lego are great!

Skanky black and white cat #1
We saw lots of dirty black and white cats all over, lol. This one was near our house in Liscannor.

That wonderful Uncle Paddy
took Kelly and Dillon to the playgound a few times.

The best of friends

Pretty girl

Looking down at Glaway Bay

The cave
It was really neat, but the batteries in the camera died, so we only have a couple pics inside.

Galway Bay again
These were taken from the road to the cave.

Waiting to go in
This is where the hole was the farmer's dog chased the rabbit into in 1940. The farmer kept the cave a secret for 30yrs

Down the path
It's paved, and dimly lit, they even turn out hte lights at one point. It was great-we'd do it again.

A waterfall that was not runing
it had been dry a couple days-good for us, bad for the cave falls.
